Stuff happens, week 2 I was sick and on antibiotics and couldn't go for WI.
Saturday we were having a blizzard, I went to WW only to find they were
closed, so it'll be a bit before I enter an official new weight.

GE--week 2 only once, my week 3, 4 times.

Oh, we're having another snow storm, as if we didn't already have enough.
Hopefully I can get my WI on Saturday.

Hope you're all having a great week, and no one is ill.

Good luck this week. Both on your weight as well as getting to a meeting.
Stay warm and safe with this next round of snow. We got 15" on Sunday and
another 1-3" is due tonight.

Welcome to my world. I love this country with all my heart, and I'd
love it more if the snow would stay cross-country-skiiable - but it
seldom does.LOL Don't worry - I'm going out today to look for more
skiis - expect a major thaw in the next few days.

Yes, send it here.  Lots of ski-workers could use the assistance as
they have all been layed off and all Western Washington ski areas are
closed till further notice.

It is really early for them to close isn't it?  I lived in Arlington for 7
years before moving to Colville.  Just bought almost 18 acres this summer in
Colville for retirement that can't come soon enough for us.

VERY EARLY.  King-tv just announced that Snoqualmie Pass only has 20%
of its normal snow.

Even Mt Baker which had set the snow fall record 2 or 3 years ago
closed for lack of snow.  Things are rather dismal.  Forest fires may
be really bad this coming summer if there is not a turnaround.

When I bike rode across the state we hit Colville.  Quite remote (G)
I saw you mention retiring back here.

Most probably.  One area at 4,000 feet (1,300 meters?) has ZERO snow
and has beat an old record set in 1977 when it had a low of 2 inches.

There should be FEET of snow up there.  Folks have been doing summer
hikes and only running into snow at 5,000 feet.  We might get a touch
this weekend.  The low overnight was nearly 50F which is warmer than
the normal daily high of about 47F

I figure the nice weather will turn to snow up there around the time of
spring break.  That is when we are planning a trip to the Seattle area.

It was 60F yesterday and nearly as warm today.  But it is suppose to
cool down tomorrow and the weekend.

So...

Tis the season for clothing store clearance sales.
Last night, I bought a lovely skirt a size below my current one for
only $20.00 Cdn, as a promise to myself that I will get down there
before too much longer.

I'm back into my smaller size clothes. Haven't lost all that much so
far, but man, have I toned up over the past three months! So,
currently down a size overall.

I usually shop at thrift stores for bargains because I don't want to
spend money on clothes I don't plan to wear for long...however, I got
a pair of nice black pants at WalMart the other day for 7 bucks. The
best part for me was that i got them off the regular-size rack - not
the supersize (or whatever cutesy name they're calling big clothes
these days...lol)

since last Christmas but the inches have gone, good for you and your skirt,
I bet you are there now, Lee

Spring break is not till March 21-25, so hopefully it will be decent then,
just no snow on the pass roads, so I can get up there in the car and not
have to deal with it, since I have never driven in the snow.

Well, snow in our passes FINALLY. Just not enough to open the ski
areas.  And now they are talking about potential lowland snow, just a
trace, tonight or tomorrow morning.

Fickle weather.  I think I'm going to hike in it today and maybe try
skiing tomorrow???

We're getting some snow here right now, but it poured rain all night so
the snow won't amount to anything.  Cold and windy out too.  Think
I'll hide out in the house and do some more painting.

Have fun skiing today if you go!

Skimpy snow but I did about 10 miles and up about 1,300 feet.  Cloudy
with some flurries.  Raining when I came home to Seattle.

I loved the remoteness of Colville.  Told my DH about it and he said ok,
then we will go look there for land.  After 3 days going around with a
realtor in a 4x4 over and under sideways and more, we finally found a piece
of land that is mostly flat.  The place I had before had such a hilly
driveway that even with 4x4 and studs I still couldn't get up it in the
winter time.  So this time it is a flat driveway.  What amazes my DH is that
taxes there per year are equal to what we pay here per month.  Schools are
good there, my 26 yo graduated from the HS.  We are planning a strawbale
house and thinking of alternate energy, will still be on grid but not
totally dependent on it.  Since DH is definately an introvert person(he
hates crowds and actually had anxiety attacks in them if left alone to long)
country living will be great for us.  I have the internet and church to be
with people so I will be great also.  Besides, I will have close to 18 acres
for gardening and chickens and all. I love my gardening.

Sounds idylic.  I am still mostly an urban person - originally from
NYC!  But really like the rural areas and, of course, hiking and
cross-country skiing in the mountains.  I really did like Republic.  I
recall some antique store-restaurant in Colville (west side of main
street???) where I had lunch or rather a soda.  We camped at the
fairgrounds.  This, again, was on my bike trip across Highway 20.  I
generally got to each day's end pretty tired (G)

I remember driving Highway 20 a few times, sister lives in Everett.  But I
can't imagine biking it.  We will be 20 miles n of Colville out Aladdin Rd.
Best thing is that it is on a school bus route so I KNOW it will be kept
snow free in winter time.  Still is hard waiting these next 6.5 years
though.  We both want to get out there now, but unless they offer DH an
early out, it is wait till he is 55 or his pension goes bye bye.  After
working there 28 years so far I think it is best to wait the last few.

I am beginning to taste retirement... (drool....)

My mapping program shows me an Aladdin Road and I see a Mill Creek
School.  Toward Northport?

It will be Meadow Creek Road off of Aladdin, heading to Northport yes.  But
High School kids from Northport go to Colville HS and that is at the
Colville end of aladdin Rd.  Also Aladdin is a main route to Canada so it is
also kept clear for that, only other way is 20 or 25 i think.
