I know I dont post much in the way of support, but I am asking for some
support from all of you now.

I am struggling with my job at work and that is putting a lot of stress on
me at the moment.  It really shows on the scale too.  I have had a two pound
gain two weeks in a row now.  Yes, I have actually gained nearly 5 pounds in
two weeks.  Because of work, I had to skip my water aerobics classes twice
this week.  I love water aerobics and feel so great afterwards.  I did
instead ride my stationary bike on the nights I could not get to the gym.
My workout schedule this week was:
Monday 60 minutes water aerobics
Tuesday 50 minutes stationary bike riding (10 miles)
Wednesday 60 minutes water aerobics
Thursday 50 minutes stationary bike riding (12 miles)
Friday 45 minutes stationary bike riding (10 miles)

I know that there are things that have crept into my day that I should not
be eating.  My plan for this week is to stay on points, workout at least as
much as I did last week, drink all my water and talk to my boss at work
about how overwhelmed I am with the job.  I am at the point I am ready to
quit my job and work in the temporary area while looking for another job.
It is so hard though with being a single mom, someone has to pay the bills
and that someone is me.

Everyone have a great week, thank you for taking the time to read my rant.

Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. You wouldn't believe how
tough things have been for me too, so I know how you feel.

Apart from all the sensible steps you want to make to reduce stress, the
one thing that keeps me sane is to write menus and shopping lists, so
that at least there's some structure in my day and if I feel hungry, I
know what I'm allowed to eat and there's nothing else in the house.

But if this doesn't work for you, just remember that this time will
pass, no matter how bad, and if you know how to lose weight now, you can
lose it later.

However, I would try to eat healthily if I were you because stress
depletes the immune system and you really can't afford to get ill at the
moment.

Best of luck.

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with job related stress. I can relate
to that since I just quit my job 1/1/05 because of things at work. I like
Anna's idea of planning your meals ahead of time. That means one less thing
to juggle at the end of the day. Maybe use a crock pot or cookup extras so
that you have plenty of food in the freezer to pop in the microwave on
nights when you don't feel like cooking. Your exercise plan looks great.

I would definitely talk to your boss about the stress. I wish I had been
able to do so at my job. In my case the boss was the cause of the problem so
talking to her was like talking to a brick wall. When I realized that things
were not going to improve I chose to leave instead. Hopefully you don't have
to quit your job. Or at least find a replacement job before quitting. The
job market is not the greatest and you certainly don't want to run the risk
of being out of work for any length of time.

Good luck and hang in there.

This is the place to rant, Deb. You are having a bad time, but stick to
it and at least you are doing some exercise. This bad patch will
eventually end, and then you can get fully back OP & get back to losing
again. Just try your best during this time & hopefully things will
improve in the near future.

And easier to say than do....  EATING the wrong foods or too much will
not really help with the stress.  Clearly, that is what you have
basically said by posting here - gaining weight by eating wrong is
merely adding to the stress.

I think planning meals as suggested could help.  Also maybe try
bringing carrots, snap peas, cut up sweet peppers or whatever of that
nature suits you might help.  As someone at my last meeting said just
this week, if she succumbs to mindless eating, she has forced it to be
veggies! (G)  That's kind of what I now do on longer drives - convert
the boredom eating from chips or even pretzels to carrots and broc and
celery.

Good luck with the job situation

Bad times come and goes (though they seem to last forever !!!!) hang in
there.. you seem to work out a lot.. good.. someone mentionned planning
ahead, WONDERFULL...

but hum.. how about cutting yourself some slack too ? Take a long bath...
sit down with a good book and a yummy tea.. go for a walk in the woods..
take nap breaks..

I've discovered that in struggle times if I try too hard it boomerangs on
me.. take some "me" time.. ;o)

G-luck !

Such great advice, Willow..... I think we all tend to be a little hard on
ourselves from time to time.  There are so many demands on everyone's time
these days, it's nice to be reminded to take time out to treat ourselves
with kindness, too.

Actually my "me" time is at the gym.  I will say though that I seriously
thought about calling the massage therapist at the nail salon I go to, to
get a massage.  I could really use that.  Maybe I should have scheduled a
pedicure too.  I will do that the next time I get down.

So far so good.  I have got meals planned out for the week and my lunches
are packed instead of take out.  Today for breakfast and lunch, I managed to
only eat 9 points.  On the way to the gym, I had a WW two point bar.  I get
30 points a day, plus I earned another 5 for an hour of water aerobics at
the gym today.  I ate a hearty dinner and used up 15 points.  So a smoothie
for evening snack/dessert to get my milk servings in and I will have
completed my day staying on target and not even touching the exercise points
that I earned.

Thank you Lee,  and welcome back, you were truly missed.  Actually I have a
new job that I start tomorrow morning.  I left my old job that I was
miserable at on Friday.  Hopefully the new job will bring a good change in
the patterns with my life.
