I did post this a short while ago, but server having problems and I wasn;t
sure you would see it.

Cut out butter completely.  Am using extra low calorie mayonnaise which is
only about 16 calories per teaspoon.  Very nice it is too.  I can't cut out
mayo, but low calorie mayo tastes just as good - low calorie butter just
does not cut it.
I have been skipping too.  I couldnt do much skipping as my chest would
start to hurt a bit, but each day I can do more before the pain comes along.

I have done my weekly weigh and have lost 6lb in my first week.  I am happy
with that, although I know my body will not sustain that amount of loss per
week for very long.  Next week will probably only be a few pounds, but even
2lb would be the equivalent of 4 packets of butter. :-)

Currently I am not doing weightwatchers, but am doing my own calorie
controlled diet.
The tablets I think are helping too.  Although I was supposed to be treated
for this underactive thyroid for 4 years now, due to bad memory it was very
rare for me to take my tablets.  Its only recently about 2-3 weeks ago I
have been taking them every day.  It takes 2-3 weeks for them to start
working properly so the timing is about right, the loss this week might have
been aided by the regular use of my tablets.
Of course it doesn't matter how I lose the weight, whether it is proper use
of medication, water loss or whatever, it is still weight loss and I am
happy.

Great job. You are definitly making lifestyle changes that will last
forever. Good luck this week.

I hope it lasts forever.  I had a bad day the other day and thankfully
didn't hit the butter reserves :-)

Don't expect miracles overnight. It takes time for new habits to become
reality. Be patient.

Let me say this too!  And if you have butter reserves, freeze it and
save it for cooking cakes when you have guests.  Then send the guests
home with any lefty over cake!  :)

Yoy are doing well there: stay with it.

Unfortunately there will be always butter there as there are other people in
the house who still eat it.  :-)

I have converted my lot to axle grease... ;)

We all use the lower fat olive spread here.  CBA with half a dozen
different things, so we all eat WW recipes and enjoy them.

Maybe it is time to switch them to a healthier margarine?

Margarine is horrible though.  Anyway its their diet, I don't want to preach
to them about what they should not eat.  Its up to them how they eat.  I
wouldnt like someone to keep tellingm e to stop smoking after all :-)

Its a matter of what you are used to. There are healtier alternatives and
not all margarine is horrible.

Very true. Let them have their butter while you eat something healthier.

Even better - throw it out! I haven't had butter in my house for a *loooong*
time. I love it, but know I can't have it. Rest of the househoold healthier
for not having the saturated fat also. I work on the theory that if it's me
doing the buying and the cooking, I get choice of ingredients ;-)

All we have is "I can't beleive its not butter" in our house these days. So
much healtier than butter.

In our place it's the Flora stuff that lowers cholesterol levels. Lord, I
love butter, as does husband & son, but my husband has high blood pressure
(well controlled by meds), so I try to keep him healthy, and I want to give
my teenage son a reasonably healthy start in life, and not have clogged
arteries by the time he's ready to go to university ;-) So in this
household, it's low-fat, low-salt everything and use of herbs & spices for
extra flavours.

Cheers, helen s

We use the I Can't Believe It's Not butter Lite, even less calories and fat.
Tastes great to me and DH.  I still get the cheap stuff for the boys as only
one actually uses margarine on anything.  My son will only use Molly
McButter on his food, says he hates butter but likes the taste of that.

I usually keep a little butter for cooking.  Some things really NEED
butter.  There's no temptation for me to eat it on bread, as while I
love it, the pain and other consequences would be too unpleasant to make
it worth while.  If we run out of olive marge, the boys can eat butter.
 I just manage without.

I do most of the menu planning and cooking, but DH does the shopping.
That way I don't get tempted by the things I shouldn't eat.  Also, if I
had to do supermarket shopping, we'd all starve!  I hate it!

good theory, I figured out that I would have to lose without asking DH to
give up the things he loves as he does the cooking, the only thing that
bothers me is the "fat" items, cookies and candy do not affect me, but cream
cheese and butter talk to me in my sleep, Lee

For me, it was pizza -- it's really bad when you dream of pizza instead of
your DH :-)

Great first week Beck!  I also like butter but have trained myself off of it
on sandwiches, switched to lowfat mayo, now prefer some of the fancy
mustards to that even.  Keep up the great work!

Thanks.  I quite like mustard too but I am very picky about mustards, some
of them are far too hot and smell awful.  Can be quite offputting when I buy
the wrong type.

Excellent work.

I would gently suggest that you deal with the butter monster.  Cutting
things out of one's diet completely might not work over the course of
a lifetime. (G)

But I have almost given up cheese which was almost a daily indulgence.
But I do still have it - mostly strongly powered ones and in MOSTLY
limited amounts, not like the old days.

Have a good time with things this week.

The butter situation is fine.  I have not wanted any at all and although
theres nowt I can do about it still being in the house, I can handle it easy
enough.  For now :-)
