Oh boy, now I AM depressed. And totally confused. I've been "good" for the
last couple of weeks....and for some reason it's not working. Christmas saw
me up 1.6. Two week's later my brother's do left me another 1.4 up. So
that was 3 lbs, but since then..... So, I was kinda expecting to be
leveling out, maybe heading down. I was feeling a tad trimmer too, so the
last thing I expected when I stood on the scales this morning was to
discover that I'd put ON another 2.4lbs! I am totally gutted - reduced
to tears in fact. I don't feel 5 lbs heavier, I don't know where it is. My
Body Fat is still the same. I've not been this heavy since early this year
and I know it's going to take me even longer to lose it. I hate it when it
just piles on without any apparent reason. I'm feeling very disheartened
and depressed. Time to rethink - drop the points for a while - and hope
that next week is better. Only I doubt it as I have two challenges this
weekend, and even though I usually manage them, it doesn't seem to be
working......

Please try to not be so upset. I know how you feel - I've been there
and likely everybody else here has too. A gain when you're expecting a
loss can be devastating, but you have to look at the big picture. If
you can honestly say that you've been eating on program, and tracking
*everything* you put in your mouth, you're probably the victim of
water retention. That would be especially true if you've been doing
some heavy-duty exercise in the past few days - my body tends to hang
on to water when I introduce heavier weights to my routine. If you're
feeling trimmer, then it's quite likely that you've lost some fat -
but your muscles are still hanging on to water. It will go. The hard
part will be for you to not go on a 'what's the use' binge. Don't let
negative thoughts creep into your head. Saying things like 'I doubt
it' don't help. *You* are in control of what you do and what you eat -
it doesn't matter what the challenge is - you can conquer it. Give it
at least another week - I'm sure you'll see results.

Sorry to hear about the gain. It is probably water retention. Is TOM due?

Check TOM and water retention, and check with your tape measure... I
put on 2 lbs last week, but was an inch thinner round the waist!
If you think it mat be water retention, try drinking ginger and
echinacea tea - that always has me de-waterlogged in a day!

Exercise related, perhaps? Is your body fat measurement accurate? If
so, then go with it as more real. Dimenions and clothes fitting the
same? That, too, may be a reflection of more real???
Don't throw in the towel just yet. And work those food challenges
into the plan - be stubborn about it this week. And as Lynne said,
record it all carefully.
Have a better week.

Sorry to hear about your gain Krys. I know it can be disheartening, but
try not to get yourself down. You've had some good suggestions from
Lynne, Laura and Fred so try those and keep your head up girl! Be
persistent, you can do it!
Good luck!

Sorry about the bad patch you're going through. I know how depressing it
can be. First, weigh and measure everything & make sure you are not
eating anything salty - or if you do, make sure you drink extra water.
Are you drinking your water? If you must cut back, just make sure you
don't go below your point level - as that can slow your metabolism. I
know sometimes some people just hit a level & stay there for a while
before once again going down. I sure wish you luck in restarting your
losing weight.

Are you exercising? WW can be disappointing unless you keep dropping points
(calories). Some of us can't lose unless we're at the bottom of the allowed
points. At some "point" you'll lose weight. But hang in there. All you
need is some will power and self discipline - and exercise! :-)
I haven't lost anything in 9 days now. I walk 1 to 2 miles every day,
several times I did 3 miles in a day, and I only went over points one time.
In fact I stay at the low end. This exercise is in addition to my usual
housework of mopping, vacuuming etc.

Are you tracking? Weighing, writing down on the tracker & keeping to your
daily points limit?
Are you exercising more or less?

Weight loss is never linear. Sometimes you gain weight sometimes you
lose it. Even if you eat below maintenance all the time. Add to that
the problem that water balance can change in the body and produce
swings in weight far greater than a single weeks loss.
There is a fine line to follow between wait and see what happens next
week, and change something around 'cos what you are doing isn't
working. I'm not sure where the line is, only you know whether you've
eaten too much or not.
If you are sure that you haven't gone off program, then wait.
Otherwise review what you are doing and change something.
Personally I think there is about 10 days between eating too much and
the weight finally coming through on the scale. So if I thought I was
anywhere near on program I'd wait 3 weeks before changing stuff around
to make sure it's not just a blip on the graph.
Whatever you decide, good luck with it
ray

Krys.. sorry to hear that you've been hitting a rough patch. Considering
that I've never had much (make that any) success with maintenance, at least
you're not in denial about it and.... you are still here! Believe me, that
means a lot as I learn from you.
Try not to beat yourself up too much..........
hope you have a great and determined week!

Awwww Krys, I feel for you! Would it help to track very very carefully, and
to eat your points only out of the Core/No Count list ? I 'm sure Laura can
give you a link to that list. Hang in there,
