I have 28 points per day. Today I have eaten a large bowl of 5-can soup (3
points/pot) and I plan to eat more for supper. I will have less than 3
points for the entire day. I am stuffed!! Can/will I lose weight this way?

I can tell you from experience that you won't keep it up - you will
start craving higher point food, and you do need a lot more food to keep
going, keep your energy levels up and avoid cravings.
One day of eating like this is fine, but don't expect it to last.

No. That's a recipe for starvation. The body requires so many calories a
day just to run your heart, lungs, brain, kidneys, liver etc.
The minimum required varies per person but the link below gives you a
calculator to give you a rough idea what your calorie intake should be
per day, including what it should be if you want to lose weight.
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
If you don't provide your body with the minimum required then the body
will respond by saving its fat reserves (because it's fearing
starvation) and burn from other sources like muscle, which is why some
anorexics look gaunt.
Eat your 28 points, even if you have to force yourself.

Not in a healthy manner. If you follow the points system, you should
really try eating your minimum points most days.

Yes. You will lose weight that way. But it's a really, really bad way
to lose weight. There are precious few micronutrients, no fat and no
protein so you'll get loads of side effects of starvation and you'll
lose lots muscle along with only a little fat. In the short term
you'll probably start craving high calorie foods and in a few days
your appetite might well go away altogether. If you keep it up for 60
days you'll be dead.
Don't do it.
Weightloss is a slow and steady process that shouldn't be rushed. WW
have a good handle on how to lose weight safely, but there are lots of
other plans that work too. Choose one that works for you, and forget
about this particular bad idea.

ok, lol... I meant for one day, not every day.
Let me rephrase... If I eat say half my points on one day, and then the full
28 points the other 6 days, will I be able to lose weight, since 28 is the
recommended mimimum amount of points for my weight group?
What if I eat my full 28 points and do activities and do not count the
activites, will I still lose weight?
Today, I have eaten a cup of grapes, a banana, and a bagel bar for a daily
total of 5 points so far. However I have walked 1 1/2 miles today in about
25 minutes.
I'm getting protein and fiber daily, just not a lot of fat. Bottom line,
will this hinder my weight loss?

The same applies - you have to eat those points!!! Your body requires
those minimum points to run your body. If you were completely sedatary,
you'd still require a certain number of calories to keep the heart,
lungs, kidneys etc running properly.
One suggested way to help lose (or break plateaus) is to vary the number
of points you take in each day. This way your body doesn't become
comfortable and very efficient at burning the 28 points. Vary it by up
to six points a day but DON'T go below 28 points (and have one day that
you vary it up to ten to twelve points). By varying it you go into the
35 extra so ensure that you don't vary the points so that they exceed
231 points.
> What if I eat my full 28 points and do activities and do not count the

Yes! That is a better alternative and will work. But, remember, the
activity is going to build muscle mass which is heavier than the fat
being burned. So you may think you're losing weight but can't see it on
the scales. The best way to see weight loss is to measure your waist,
chest etc. You may not see the loss on the scales all the time but you
will in inches (and in loose clothing). From mid-Jan to mid-Feb I
actually gained 2 lbs but my waist and chest went down a full inch.

Eat the points. It took time to put the weight on, it'll take time to
lose the weight. One to two pounds a week or five to ten a month. It
adds up. It needs only patience.

One day isn't gonna make a real difference (unless it sends you on a binge
for the rest of the week.. you don't want to go below 20 though.. that's
what the body NEEDS

it's a fine balance. Weight loss is all about conservation of energy.
If you eat less then you will tend to lose weight. However your body
hates you and does it's best to make your life hell. If you eat less
for a time the metabolism slows down to preserve weight.
Somewhere there is an optimum point. WW presumably have spent a lot of
money on research and believe that they have it right for the majority
of people.
But everyone is different so where the optimum point is only you can
tell by trying it. Try to average 28 points per day for a while and
then average a few less for a while. See how things work out.
So long as you eat about the right number of points you should be OK.
oh yes another complication is that it varies over time! I ate about
2000 calories for ages and lost weight, but eventually I had to reduce
the amount of food I ate to continue losing. And sometimes it works
the other way. If your metabolism has slowed right down you might have
to eat a lot more for a week or two to get it working properly again
before you start the downward journey again.

You'll probably lose weight FASTER if you eat less points (food).

How come you keep escaping from my kill-file, Wysong?
For the sake of Kenny, yes, if you eat few points per day you would lose
weight fast, but unfortunately you cannot lose fat that fast, so most of
the weight lost would be water; And secondly, you'd never keep it up
unless you were anorexic. The more you deprive yourself, the worse the
eventual binge in my experience. So in the long run, eating too little
will only result in you cracking earlier.
If you are stuffed on a couple of bowls of soup, maybe you've got a
tummy upset?
