Things have settled down somewhat over the last few days. I brought
my grandmother home from the hospital yesterday and she's resting
comfortably now. She had a good sleep in her own bed last night - first
good sleep in the 2 weeks since her surgery.
Bad news is that the tumor they removed from her bowel was cancerous,
but the surgeon was very optimistic - he believes he got it all and saw no
evidence of it having spread. He didn't believe any further treatment was
necessary - she is 85 in a few weeks. Because of her age, I don't think
she would choose any treatment even if she was terminally ill. Hopefully
she will now live to a ripe "older" than she is now, age.
As for me, I've been very OFF program over the last few weeks, lots of
trips to the city, eating fast foods most days and not drinking my daily
allotment of water. My last weigh in was few weeks ago so will consider
that my current weight until Monday morning's weigh in.

There's nothing that feels so good as your bed, especially when you've
been in the hospital. Your grandmother is sure to recover much more
quickly and comfortably now. Glad the worst is behind you and that
you're able to return to more normal food choices.

Glad to hear things have settled down for you and that your grandmother is
home where she belongs.

Glad to hear that you grandmother is safely home in her own bed. Now your
life might settle back down to normal. Don't fret over the gain. Under the
circumstances it is understandable. You lost weight before and you can do it
again. Onward and downward!

Yes, I have and I certainly can do it again! My life has already settled
somewhat - looking forward to more settling.

Brenda,
I'm so glad to hear that your grandmother is resting comfortably. What an
ordeal at any age, but to be almost 85 and go through it must be exhausting.
So sorry to hear it was cancerous but good that things look like they were
taken care of. Now it's time for you to get back to taking care of you...
hang in there and good luck with WI tomorrow!
