My meeting leader covered this one at my first meeting.
For sodas, more than four, count them as 1 point for four cans
(approximately). So, if you have five, you probably don't need to worry
about it too much.. if you have seven, tho, give yourself a point. And
this is only because they're sodas, and you could be having water or
something instead, not because they actually have a point value.
Something with small calories, tho, like veggies, they *do* have a point
value if you have enough of them. But unless you're a rabbit, you
probly don't need to worry about it.
Or like these Viactiv calcium chewy things I've got.. they're 20
calories, and work out to be 0 points, but if you had lots of them (more
than you should be having in one day), you'd have to count them. Just
add all the numbers together.

thanks for your help Tayra, I just thought of that as far as how much of "0"
point stuff you can have before having to count it ... I guess if I don't
over due the "0" point items I should be fine :-)

For zero point items that actually have calories you need to add up the
calories/fat/fiber(capped@4g) for the total amount consumed to determine
the points. My leader suggests 1 point for every 3 or 4 servings of
veggies. For 0 calorie items don't worry about it. I'd worry more about
the chemicals and sodium in multiple cans of diet soda in a day.
Moderation is the key even with diet soda.

0 pts veggies ARE 0 pts... you don't count them.. the idea of counting pts
after so and so many servings is a leader thing that came up because members
were affraid of gaining from eating too much veggies, it's a left over from
the "counting calories" thing, it doesn't come from Weight Watchers.. I
double checked on that (about the 0 pts soup) and was told clearly that you
just DON"T COUNT PTS

i was wondering if it was a leader thing. Each one has a different spin
on their materials. Nothing in our printed materials says that 0 point
veggies are anything but. I think the caution is someone eating a whole
bag of lettuce everyday without accounting for it. Calories DO add up
when you eat that much. But nobody gained weight eating that much
lettuce. Its the 0 point coolwhip that people need to watch. <g>

There's a difference between the 0 pts vegetables.. and the food that end up
being 0 pts when you count them.. cool whip is definitively not a free
food.. the whole tub is 5 pts..
yup.. I counted the whole thing.. and yup I ate the whole thing... only
twice though..

My leader is one that eats the whole tub if she does not portion it out and
control. Myself, I can leave the stuff alone and don't care to eat it at
all, but I don't care for whipped cream either.

I agree. If it's 0 points, it's 0 points - period. The whole idea of zero
point foods are that they are so low-calorie, low-fat that overeating them
is *extremely difficult* Lord, if I attempted to point the amount of 0 point
veggies I eat, I'd be at it all day - I have gallons of zero point veggie
soups - and I'm managing to lose weight reasonably well ;-)
