I've seen my doctor and after a good talk with him he prescribed Celexa in
the hopes that it will lift me out of the doldrums I've been in lately. He
mentioned that the side effect he sees most often with this medication is
nausea. Perhaps that will deter me from food!
Anyway, I will begin taking it this evening and am hoping that I will see an
improvement over the next week or two. I have to see him again in two
weeks.
Good luck to you all this week.

Sounds like you were able to have a candid discussion with your
doctor. Thanks for posting the outcome of your appt. I've been
thinking about you all day, wondering how things had gone for you. I
really hope you start feeling more like yourself very soon.

Good to hear you could talk to your doctor, Brenda. I hope the medication
will make you feel better. I wish you all the best,

Be well. The additional daylight should also help.

Thanks Fred. Yes, the additional daylight is wonderful, especially
when it's sunny! I've been spending lots of time outside in my yard
lately. It feels good to be out there, not cooped up in the house.
DS and I took a nice long walk Sunday morning - it was
beautiful and not too warm - the exercise felt good.

Hi Brenda,
I just wanted to let you know that even though I am new here, I support you
in your struggle. I am on Wellbutrin and Effexor right now, and have been
on and off Zoloft in the past for several years. It has really helped me
climb out of some dark times in my life (along with psychotherapy). It's
weird, every time I try to take myself off these medications, I somehow
always find myself at the bottom again (or on my way). Depression is a
horrible thing to feel, so I hope the Celexa helps you.
As a sidenote, my doctor put me on Lexapro for a short time a couple years
ago (which is related to Celexa I guess). It turned out it wasn't for me
because of the side effects I was experiencing, but I have heard about a lot
of people it has helped. Anyway, Zoloft (which is also an SSRI) did make me
stop eating so much when I first started taking it. That was a side effect
I didn't mind too much! ;-)

Thanks, I hope so too.

So far, so good. I've been feeling a little nauseous and tired today. Jack
warned me
that I may have these symptoms so I was expecting it.

Good for you for addressing your problem. That is the first step to
improving. My hubby takes Celexa and it works wonderfully for him. Mind
you after 4 years on it he had to up his dosage a little, but keeps you on a
more even keel that many of the other drugs.

Glad to hear you got to the Dr. and are getting the help you need. While you may
see some slight improvement over the next week or two, give it some time. I
believe most of the anti-depressant meds take 6 weeks to reach full potency (or
whatever) in the system. I think my friend summed it up pretty well when she was
on anti-depressants ... didn't make her all of a sudden happy, but kind of put
things on more of an even keel. Does that make sense?
Hope you're feeling much better soon.

Makes perfect sense. He told me that it wouldn't give me the maximum
benefit
right away, may take up to 4 weeks - so we'll wait and see. So far so good.
I'm
not feeling as restless and anxious as I was before.

Not feeling as restless and anxious is good. It might also be a bit comforting
knowing that your doctor is taking you serious, which will also help with those
anxious feelings. Stick with those meds and the doctor, sounds like you have a
good one fighting for you.

Thanks Amberle, that's sweet of you. I'm doing okay, fourth day on
Celexa today and I'm feeling much more relaxed and less irritable for
sure. I spent the whole day yesterday with DS and didn't get upset
once. That hasn't happened for a loooong time! He must sense that
I'm not as irritable as I was just a few days ago as he seems a little
different as well.
How and where have you been? Are you still busy with wedding
plans and all that good stuff?

More relaxed and less irritable? I think I know some people that
could use that!
I've been okay. Busy dealing with all the wedding junk and so forth.
I'll be posting an update in just a little bit.

Glad to hear that your doctors visit went well. Give your body time to get
used to the Celexa. When they put my daughter on Zoloft it took several
weeks before she noticed signifcant improvment in her feelings.

I'm already noticing a somewhat of a difference. For instance, after dinner
I walked over to DS's fish bowl, he fed the fish, then I stood watching them
for about 2-3 minutes. DH asked why I was acting so weird, standing there
for that length of time without being all agitated!
