No swimming due to guests staying...
More food/booze due to guests staying...  (It was the Rochester Sweeps
Festival last weekend - a 3 day one die to our English mad Bank
Holidays!  You can see a previous year's activities on my web site)
A friend finally died of her cancer.  :(  Funeral next Wednesday.
A relative has leukemia and only months to live: he's 78, so at least he
got to see his children grow up.  My friend was 45 and her son and
daughter 4 and a half and nine.
The weather has been against walking!  So have circumstances!  :(
MIL has been ill again, so we are off tomorrow on a 600 mile round trip
over the weekend to see her.  She needs a pacemaker!
I have mad numbers of new sewing customers dropping out of the sky!

But I did go down another 1.5 lbs, for a total of 54.5 gone.

You've had more than enough to deal with this week, Kate, beginning
with your hosting obligations and ending with the long car trip to
visit your MIL. I'm sorry to hear about the deaths of your friend and
family memmber. Yet with all this going on, you managed to show a nice
loss. In the week ahead, it'll be important and probably impossible to
find some time to take care of yourself. But I do hope you can find a
minute here and there to take a deep breath and connect with yourself.

Sorry to hear about your friend and relative.  I know how hard it is
to deal with the death of such a young person.  I recently lost a friend
to a brain tumor.  She was about 51, two kids and one grandchild - 1 year
old.  It was tough on all of us.

Through your difficult week you managed a loss and that's great!
Keep up the good work and take care of YOU!

Hang in there Kate.  I've learned in the last few weeks that if you think
life will ever get to be normal, you've got to redefine normal. Do as much
as you can for everyone, but don't forget that you are important too.

Hm...  'Normal'....

OK, here's Kate's version of normal:

It is now NORMAL for me to
Go to pain management course 1-2 days per week
Gallop 300 miles to visit the MIL at the weekend
Take a sewing machine away for the weekend
Wrestle and juggle volunteer mum classes at school with customers at home
Make velvet panels for photographers!
Fill the days with polyester bridal satin and too many bridesmaids
flying in from Ireland and continental Europe for fittings
Juggle home cooked meals and meals in motorway service stations
Stand in queues doing stretching exercises!
Regard a day in school with twenty-five 10 YO's as a rest!

Thanks all for the support.

Weekend was a bit mad: north Friday pm: arrived about 10pm, having left
home at 3:45 and stopped for a meal on the way up...  Quick gallop to
Dainty Supplies for a pattern and a fabric sample for a couple of
customers, then a mad scramble to get son some shoes!  Visited in-laws
Saturday pm after a hasty lunch.  The friends were out all day at a
morris dancing rehearsal.  Today we paid another visit to the in-laws,
stopped on the way down for a sandwich, stopped off at Mum's for a
three-hour visit (I had a sewing machine swap to conduct, and she fed us
an excellent dinner!).

Mum got a call just as I was leaving this evening - the cousin who's
hubby has leukemia had a stroke! Gah!

Got home at 9:45pm to find I have 350 emails!  That's AFTER chucking the
spam...

We are going back north next weekend, we think: the lads want a hill
walking expedition, and I'm trying to get my customer stuff lined up to
allow the trip!  I may arrive at the friends with sewing machine and cut
fabric in tow!

Interesting weather for the trip down, too: bright sunshine, torrential
rain, hail, thunderstorms, sleet.  Sometimes all at once!  The hail was
big enough to bounce off the road in marble sized lumps and slow the
traffic to a crawl for a few minutes.  Son James said it sounded like we
were being pebble-dashed!

Needless to say, I have NOT got quite as much exercise in as usual, and
I have gone over points a bit!  Back to the straight & narrow tomorrow,
and I should be swimming on Tuesday evening, if all goes well.
