I had my first NSV today. My kids were invited to a birthday party,
with parents to stay as well. While the kids were eating their chips
and sausage rolls etc, the adults were offered a very dark, rich and
moist looking chocolate cake, and I didn't have any. I ate a nice
point friendly but filling lunch and didn't give into the temptation
to eat any of the party food. I had 2 small cups of coffee and that
was it.

This was the first time in months that I haven't used a party or
special occasion as an excuse to eat whatever I liked. It feels good
:-)

That is one great NSV Erin!  Congratulations on resisting chocolate
cake!

Thanks Brenda. Chocolate cake is one of my weaknesses so I was very
proud of myself.

I'm having a good week actually. DH was away last night so I was doing
the dinner and bedtime routine on my own. This is my most stressful
time of the day and the kids were playing up. For once though, I
didn't give in to the stress and I cooked myself a very healthy
dinner. I'm really feeling good this time around.

Huh? What were you doing up there in redneck land? You should have dropped
down to our area, we could have shown you something.

HUH!  Is right.

Visiting my sister and brother-in-law.  Hit the Dallas Art Museum and
the Kimbell in Fort Worth.  Both had special shows and were good but
that was about all there was to do.  Overpasses on the freeway (and
TOLLways) were the highest places I saw besides the buildings.

Lesanne - 09 May 2005 18:52 GMT
Oh my. Nothing to do in Dallas. Gee, you missed the monster truck races? And
the womens' mud wrestling? Darn.
Now down here we could have gone Kayaking and I could show you a few
dolphins or something. We have no mountains around here either, but there
are some nice hills around San Antonio, and some actual mountains in Big
Bend. You were in the totally most awful part of Texas.

Yes, and I even totally skipped your "redneck" comments about that
part of Texas! (G)

A friend suggested Hooters.  Not my sister's cup-of-tea or is that
cup-of-E (G)

Hooters. Yes, Dallas' idea of entertainment.
I mentioned the kayak thing because DD and I are going to buy a tandem one
tomorrow after her last final exam and go out in the bay to dolphin watch
and row around a bit. I am really looking forward to it.

I've a flatwater kayak that has not seen the light of day, well, in
quite a while.  But I have enjoyed it when I did do it.  It is much
more intimate with the water than even a canoe.  Enjoy the water and
the dolphins.  Oh, and practice your Eskimo Roll! (g)

Eskimo What?
Is that like an egg roll with whale meat or something?
Fred - 11 May 2005 03:42 GMT
Similar.

It is where you turn the kayak over and then swing it right-side-up
while staying inside.

Hmm we have a "sit on" Apex II. Tandem. Pelican brand I think. It is big and
orange and looks like a real lot of fun. I will let you know if we see
dolphins.

That would be neat.  Up here the water is always cold and immersion
can be lethal.

Well it was very windy. Granddaughter got a little sea sick we think. It was
big fun, and I bet wrestling that thing on and off the van and carrying it
to the water burned a few points. Not to mention the rowing in a circle we
did.

Wind can add to the activity points along with schlepping it around.
Hope granddaugher's stomach is now settled.  Seasickness is awful.

Oh Geeeeeeeesh, hooters is oooooooo overrated. <g>  Must be a guy thing.  My son
used to go there all the time, complained how awful the food was.  When I finally
broke down and asked him why he continued to go ... I was told it was NOT for the
food. <g>  I now have been asked if we can fly Hooters airline to Vegas this
summer (I don't think so!).

That's great Erin.  I've been on the program for 15 months, and still find
chocolate cake hard to say no to.

I created a recipe for a really yummy low fat chocolate cake which
takes care of the cravings. I make it whenever I visit family,
everyone loves it.

I don't bring cake into the house, but do indulge when out.  But not as much
as before.  I am content now with a few bites-- but they can still add up.

I don't eat cake when I'm out because I never know the points values,
and knowing how yummy my low point chocolate cake is, I'm not prepared
to spend a lot of points on normal cake. I often have a cake in the
tin but only because I know I'm not going to binge. I'm a bit strange
in that the more yummy food there is in the house, the more likely I
am to stick to points. It's when I have to struggle to find something
low point that I give in and eat whatever I can find.
