It's been a funny ole week, what with this and that...  I dare say my
MIL's health has something to do with me eating too much!  She isn't
eating at all at the moment, and trying to think of things to tempt her
has had my mind dwelling on food more than I usually let myself dwell.
Ah well...

Anyway...  I have been making a mad dress again - this time working on
my Elizabethan project.  I dialed up Dolly (my dress dummy) to my
measurements, all except the waist (well I dialed that up too, but one
of her screw mountings is bust, so it comes up a little small... ).  I
dressed her in the bodice for this gown, and it looked tiddly!  so tiny
that I had to get DH to hook me into it and take pix, just to prove I
really AM that small!  Yup - fits just fine - there's even room to take
a deep breath!  And this after cutting it a size 14 as that's what my
measurements said, and then DH pinning a good 3" out of it because it
was too big!

This is the funny thing about clothes...  You buy a size 10 T shirt, but
a size 14 pattern: both apparantly made for the same size person!

Then my swimsuit started falling to bits, so I bought a new one: UK size
12!  :)  Bit neat round the bum, but a better fit than the 34F I bought
six months ago!

The psychology of our behaviors around food surely does complicate
things, doesn't it!

This is the reason I stopped sewing. Too much futzing. Guess I'd
rather wear ill-fitting off the rack clothing than be bothered with
the tailor fitting my clothes.

This fact is most maddening. These things might be made for the same
person, but obviously the same person is not sizing both clothes and
clothes patterns.

Cool!

Too damned right!  And having eaten like a shark on feeding frenzy
today, I STILL got the nibbles!

There was very little fiddling with this: just a straight 3" out the
sided!  :)

Mostly I ignore the 'size' of any pattern when buying, and buy by inches.

Yeah - felt good in the pool last night, and I'm swimming again in the
morning, so ought to sign off and go to bed!

Way to go, Kate!

My SIL gave me some clothes recently.  There were two pairs of jeans.  One
was marked 24W, and was a bit snug.  Since I wore that size before I lost
any weight, this was really depressing.  I mean, I know I've put back on a
few pounds, bit I'm still 60 pounds lighter than I had been.

The other pair was marked size 18.  This pair fit almost exactly the same as
the size 24W pair.

Go figure.
