Day 46 Report

On Saturday the scale ticked down another 0.5 kg and this morning,
Monday, another 0.5 kg. So I'm down 1.0 kg not even half-way into this
week.

Total weight loss: 8.5 kg = almost 19 lb.

One thing I changed was switching what I drink. I had been drinking
almost exclusively Diet Coke since starting my diet. But I have been
suspecting "hidden calories" there, even though it is supposedly
non-caloric. I wonder if sucralose-based drinks are really as zero
calorie as manufacturers claim.

Or it might be that the carbonated nature of the drink was causing me to
retain fluids and what I'm seeing is a just a bit of a diuretic effect
after stopping carbonated beverages. We'll see.

Anyway, I switched to green tea and water. Cold, plain, of course
unsweetened green tea is the national drink here in Japan and is
surprising refreshing. Especially in the summer.

And I've give more thought on weighing:

There are really two schools of thought on this - or maybe three:

1. Weigh regularly, but not in-between regular weighings - like once a
week - to avoid scale obsession and the psychological impact of seeing a
daily uptick due to normal fluctuations.

2. Almost never weigh yourself. Though I don't know how you can really
track the progress of your diet if you don't. This one always seemed to
be unrealistic to me.

3. Weigh yourself daily. If you can take it psychologically, it does
provide extra information.

I'm coming around to #3 for me. It seems that more information is
better, in general, than less information...

Well done!! I've heard that just drinking fizzy diet stuff can hinder
you........ I have it now and again, I'm a ribena fan :o) the tap water here
isn't very nice on it's own. the National drink here in Scotland seems to be
a rather scary drink called Irn Bru! is bright orange and not very nice!!
As for the weighing theory I'm a once a week gal! Besides my kids broke the
scales I had at home, trying to see how far round the pointer went when they
jumped on them! and I've not got round to getting new ones :o)

Anyway keep up the good work!!
