Hi everyone!  I am only 21 years old and have gone up and down in m
weight so much.  I will lose 40 or 50 pounds then gain it back.  I di
weight watchers a couple years ago and was very successful and I didn'
even follow it very strictly, I would have cheat days and I wouldn'
exercise.  Then I gained everything I lost back.  Then I tried low car
dieting.  I would go on and off low carb  all the time , I lost about 1
pounds then gained it all back.  Finally, I got frustrated with low car
because it wasn't working as well as it did in the beginning and decide
to try weigh****chers again.    Now, I am being strict with weigh
watchers AND running and walking about 2 miles almost everyday.
don't even eat all my points in one day and I am not losing as much a
I was when I previously did weight watchers.  I am wondering if I hav
damaged my body by going up and down and low carb dieting?  Is that wh
I am not having better results now?  Will I have to work harder to los
weight than I had to before?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi there.

I'd say it sounds like you're not eating enough.  Before, you were a
little lax with it and didn't exercise.  Now you're being very stringent
and doing a lot of exercise, and not eating all your points.  Before,
you were getting enough calories your body was able to handle getting
rid of some fat.  Now you're barely getting enough to make it through
the day, much less make your body comfortable with shedding fat (well,
maybe more than that, but the comparison works better this way :P).  If
your metabolism doesn't have enough input, it'll slow way down and you
won't end up losing any weight.  My advice:

1) Eat *all* your daily points.  Every day.  Even if you have to eat
fattening foods periodically.  And if you need a 7-point candy bar an
hour before bed to get those last 7 in.. do it.  Missing out on that 7
points will do your metabolism more harm than eating near bedtime.

2) Eat *at least* 20 of your flex points every week.  Some people do
better if they don't use them, but until you know, it's better to eat
them than not.

3) If you earn activity points, eat them too.  One or two you're ok, but
if you're earning 8 or 9 a day, you *need* to eat them.  Heck, you've
already burned that food off, you might as well eat it.

I doubt the carbs have anything to do with it.   Again, some people do
better on fewer carbs, but if you did well on WW before, it sounds like
they may be irrelevant for you.  First make sure you're eating enough,
and then if that doesn't work, you can tweak other things.

Best of luck.

make sure you eat all your points, if I do not eat mine I go into starvation
mode and do not lose, Lee

Hi Smitty,

When you go on a low carb diet you lose mostly water, that is why
the weight comes off quickly. Then when you eat all types of food the weight
comes back on.
With ww, make sure you eat all of your points because you need it as fuel.
Try eating small meals every 2-3 hrs, your energy level will stay up which
helps with your metabolism Exercise 5 times a week for at least 45 - 60 mins
a day. Maintain a target hr.

                                            good luck

No you haven't damaged your body.
Probably it's just because you are older and using as much energy.
Healthy teenagers use loads of energy just growing and being
teenagers. When you leave school its so much more difficult to
exercise now 'cos it's not laid on for you. You probably have (access
to) a car, so you don't walk as much etc.

Don't worry about how fast you can lose just worry about losing. You
have the rest of your life to do this, a fact you still need to learn
or you'll put the weight back on once you have finished dietting.
