Greetings to all my fellow Wibbly-Wobblies across the Pond!  :-))
I have recently discovered this ng and enjoy reading of the trials,
tribulations and of course, the triumphs of kindred spirits.

Now I wonder if anybody can help me.  As the subject line says I love soup
and when I was in Canada recently I sampled the most deeeelishus concoction
ever to slip down my gullet.  Its creator however, was keeping the recipe a
closely guarded secret and I am now on a mission to discover that je ne sais
quoi which made it so unforgettable.  The menu said 'Chicken and Peanut'.
OK, so there were loads of veggies .. lovely big chunks of zucchini, potato,
leek, onion, carrot and probably other things too .. generous chunks of
chicken, all swimming in a wonderful stock with a bit of a kick in it
(chilli? cumin?) and not a peanut in sight!  So I am wondering if the magic
ingredient was in fact a generous dollop of peanut butter.  I really would
appreciate it if someone could help me replicate this culinary masterpiece.
Any ideas please?
TIA

I'll ask around, since I'm allergic to peanuts, I've never tasted such
thing, but it sounds familiar somehow..

I'll let you know if I find anything..

good luck, perhaps make up a batch with the known ingredients, then try
adding things that might be in there, also could there have been peanut oil
used in preparing it?  Lee

It's an African recipe.  There are many variations.

Thank you for the replies Ladies .. much appreciated.  Lots to be going on
with there.  Methinks I shall be glued to the kitchen range for a wee while
but that will be no hardship.  It's my favourite place especially when the
weather turns colder!  :-))

Miss Violette .. I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of your Furry
Friend.  I have been there so often myself and will be there again but the
heartache of parting is nothing to the joy of having shared a little of
life's journey with such wonderful companions.

thank you, she was a true bit of joy in my life, and you are correct, the
pain of letting her go can in no way compare to the joy of sharing her life,
Lee
