Lesanne - 23 Jan 2006 19:27 GMT I am too busy to find the "real" posts in the mess. I will continue to check in though so that I can participate more when the eff ups go back into whatever hole they crawled out of.

Grant - 24 Jan 2006 00:45 GMT Good way to handle those eff ups.
This is strictly a "feel good" ng. Ignore any posts you disagree with. By all means, don't discuss the eff ups' posts!!!

There are plenty of Usenet discussion groups that do not have the word "support" in the title of the group. Plenty of those groups even discuss body size, eating, health etc etc.
A support group is designed for ... wait for it ... support. That does include some very limited disagreement, but the main focus and purpose of the group is support. If you want to give and/or receive support in your participation in the Weight Watchers program, this is the place for you.
If you would rather talk about weight and health and calories and body size in a more challenging environment in which argument and not support is the main thing, knock yourself out. But this ain't it.

Willow - 24 Jan 2006 18:35 GMT Yeah... but then posting about how there's too much meaningless post to wade through is like pouring water over a flood isn't it?

Is it your perception that I did that?
>It's troll season.. play with them,. ignore them... killfile them.. Sometimes I respond to trolls in order to offer information or help or suggestions to other folks in the group who read what I write. I assume that most people just spin through the troll posts without really reading them, like I do.

Willow - 27 Jan 2006 06:28 GMT I didn't point at you or anyone.. just been a lot of "There's so many useless troll post lately" type of post.. don't even know who made then.. and it doesn't matter..
I play with troll sometimes, ignore them sometimes.. appreciate their wit sometimes.. ignore their gross stupidity somtimes..
I don't killfile because it's too much troubles..

Lesanne - 28 Jan 2006 14:18 GMT It is a real pain in the butt for me to put these into outlook express. Each e-mail address has to be added individually. If anyone knows a better way for OE please let me know it.

Nunya B. - 28 Jan 2006 17:11 GMT When you see a post from someone you want to killfile, go to the message menu and select block sender.
It only works for those who don't change their name/address daily. I find simply ignoring the messages works too, then again I'm one of those that uses a mouse to navigate through the groups as opposed to scrolling through all messages with the space bar.

Lesanne - 29 Jan 2006 01:52 GMT Hey Thanks! I should have known there was an easy way!

Thanks -- I do have OE on this computer but I prefer not to open it if I don't have to and I've never used it to read newsgroups.
For anyone who's interested, Agent is available at www.forteinc.com It was designed to read newsgroups, not for email, so it works very well. At $29, it's a bargain.
I also highly recommend Mozilla Thuderbird, which is completely free of charge. http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/. Thunderbird is MUCH better for email, and lots better for newsgroups, than OE.
>It only works for those who don't change their name/address daily. Even those. Two clicks, and your software filters out all of their spew for that day. And IME, that can represent the majority of the noise on the group.

When groups start to get too flooded, yup, that's what I start to do, too. Sometimes I miss good stuff that way, though.

Willow Herself - 29 Jan 2006 05:41 GMT The thing is the most annoying ones change their addresses several times a week, sometimes several times a day..
That's why I don't bother.. it's just background noise It is a real pain in the butt for me to put these into outlook express. Each e-mail address has to be added individually. If anyone knows a better way for OE please let me know it.

Michael Sullivan - 31 Jan 2006 02:17 GMT > The thing is the most annoying ones change their addresses several times a > week, sometimes several times a day.. If you were to use a client designed for news, there would be a way to match portions of a "From:" line (or some other news header), with something like regular expressions. You could then design a filter that would catch most/all of those changes unless someone was determined enough to change *everything* each time.
Our latest troll, for instance, is fairly easily filtered with regexes.

Stormmee - 29 Jan 2006 14:02 GMT I do the delete sender, like this:
alt m s answer y then it deletes the messages then ok button, merely select sender you want gone, after this they will be in your blocked senders list, this is for NGs, I hope I explained that clearly enough, Lee, who uses keys instead of the mouse, It is a real pain in the butt for me to put these into outlook express. Each e-mail address has to be added individually. If anyone knows a better way for OE please let me know it.
