Nature's Way to Lose Weight

Everybody wants to sell a weightloss plan.  This one is free, so naturally
you'll be suspicious of it.  Don't be.  You might learn something that will
change your life.

At best, diets help you get weight down, but then you have to follow them on
a lifelong basis to maintain weight.  It's something people deep down inside
resent having to do, so they often cheat and then gain the weight back.  A
great example is Weight Watchers.  They say you have to count "points" all
your life but that you can eat almost anything, just in moderation.  Even
cakes and ice cream are allowed "treats" within the total point limitation.
So members continue to think of these foods as goodies and eat as much of
them as they can get away with.  Most members remain overweight as a result,
but WW gains lifelong subscriptions.  Diets are first and foremost a
business.

What people should do instead is adjust their thinking about what they
really want to eat and don't want to eat, then let nature take its course.
Humans did very well for centuries before cakes and McDonalds came out.

Adjusting one's thinking isn't difficult to do.  Just read up on nutrition
to get the basics about what's good for your health and what constitutes
mostly empty calories or raises blood sugar too rapidly, then learn to think
of the latter items as things you really don't like.

It's simpler than counting points all your life: You don't like cakes,
candies, ice cream and soft drinks, so you don't consider eating them.
Reduce your carbs (breads, potatoes), sugar, sodium (chips) and saturated
fats (fried foods), and increase protein and mono/poly fats.  Great foods
are skinless chicken breast, lean beef, fish like salmon, vegetables,
fruits, salads (hold the mayo) and nuts.  You can't avoid losing weight this
way.  Drink lots of water too.  This isn't about becoming a slave to a diet.
It's about wanting to eat what nature intended you to eat.  The human body
can do amazing things as long as it isn't abused beyond the point of
recovery.

I own a restaurant, and I see tons of cakes and soft drinks all the time.
They don't interest me at all any more, and so I never touch them.  I'm not
special; anyone can do the same thing.  It's just a little mental adjustment
up front to make weight control effortless long-term.  It's like stopping
smoking cold turkey, which I did back in college.

Along with eating proper foods comes exercise.  Running or fast walking burn
the most calories per hour.  Do some resistance exercises too.  The body
expends more energy supporting muscle than supporting fat, so it burns fat
to support the muscle, even while you sleep.  Cool. huh?

After exercising you're gonna be hungry.  Eat protein and drink lots of
water to fill you up and satisfy your appetite.  This is more natural and
effortless compared to eating junk food and having to monitor total caloric
intake.

There's no need to stop snacking, just snack smart.  I have a habit of
snacking on dry roasted, unsalted almonds.  They're delicious and one of the
best quality foods you can eat - high in good fats, protein and amino acids.
Fresh fruits are great, too.  If nuts aren't good for you because of their
calories, find something else that's healthful and soon enough you'll like
it.

What you want isn't an eating plan that makes you fight with your inner
desires.  That kind of forced behavior won't last.  Instead you want to want
healthful foods and let nature take care of your weight for you.

That's all there is to it.  It's effortless and a lifelong solution once you
control your way of thinking.  My advice was free, too.  Contrast this with
WW who charge you for a plan that doesn't work as evidenced by many
multi-year members who are still overweight.  And don't listen to the advice
of anyone on this NG who is overweight.  Take your future in your own hands
using this common-sense approach.

The big flaw in your advice is that it's the same advice everyone else
comes out with and it just doesn't work. If it did work no-one would
be overweight.

Aren't you the idiot/^^^^^/ guy who suggested anyone could lose 10
pounds a week easily, and without any detrimental side effects?
