Two years ago I made life time, after trying for over 15 years of repeating
over and over and never really getting there. I was so happy finally 155
after most of my adult life being 230 and up. Well it is has been 2 years
like I said I was going all the time to the meetings the first year and a
year after goal was still there, then the health problems, depression set
in and needless to say I went back to the meetings today 2 years from almost
the date that I made goal and am up 25 pounds weighed in at 180 and just
about had another health problem right there a hear attack!!!
Why why did I let myself do this, after vowing never to let this happen
again. I am very limited in what I can do with the severe arthritis in my
feet walking, biking, elliptical trainer they are all almost impossible to
do, I have tired swimming can't swim, and the chlorine kills my skin. I am
not that old to be having all this but I do, I have been searching for over
a year to get a pair of good orthoidcs to fit in a pair of shoes, no luck
the hardness that I need for back support kills the erosions in my feet, it
is a never ending battle and I am so SICK of pain and now on top of it have
to deal with the extra weight gain which isn't good for the poor feet
either, thank god I went back when I did it could easily be 30 pounds soon
if I don't do something,
When I lost the weight I was really exercising I am wondering now if it will
work without doing hardly anything? I want so badly to be there again so I
know I will have the motivation just not sure how it will work. I will have
to find something, maybe I can go to the sauna at the health club and just
sit and sweat, that makes you atleast get rid of water and the toxins.
Has anyone lost weight on WW without much exercise, and if you don't
exercise should I go lower then my point range? When I lost before I ate at
the low end and never counted the activity points or ate the extra points
either I was very good then.
Thanks for any advice anyone has,
Becky

Hi Becky,
Nice to meet you. Sorry for all of the pain and stress in your life, but if
I can offer some good advice, I think you really need to reframe your entire
situation and try to concentrate on the positives you've achieved in your
life and the good things in your life, rather than all the negatives that
you've listed in your post.
WW is designed so that you can lose weight without exercise! I couldn't
even stand in line to get weighed in at my first meeting. I used to have to
go around in an ECV. I was becoming a hermit because I didn't want to go
out because my back hurt so much due to being 200lbs over-weight!
After I lost the first 50lbs (with no exercise), I finally felt like it was
time to join a gym and quite honestly, it's one of the best things I've ever
done. But do I rely on going to the gym in order to lose weight? NO!......
Both the Flex Points Plan and the CORE plan have been designed by WW to help
you lose weight without exercise. Exercise is recommended, but it is not a
requirement to lost weight.
You can do this! We all can. But first you need to convince yourself of the
reasons why you want to do this and then you need to work at with a positive
attitude.

Welcome back. I also know you can lose without doing exercise. Focus on
today and go from there.

I don't exercise much. I have no excuse not to except for the fact I hate
exercise.
Sometimes I will do no planned exercise for 3 weeks and still lose each
week. True the losses go faster when you exercise but it isn't an absolute
requirement.
Can you do exercises sitting down like resistance bands, light handweights
etc?
Better than nothing at all :)

Thank you to all of you who have responded, I think that I am a little
depressed right now and suffering from a lot of anxiety mostly because not
being able to figure out this orthodic and shoe situation and it just keeps
getting worse, I will try and be a little more positive sorry if I sounded
so down, I really didn't mean to me more frustrated than anything but thanks
again, and wishing all of you good luck also. I did just come upon a site
that lets you track your progress and you can put in your goal weight and
tell it how much exercise you do and it keeps track for you and it is free
is anyone is interested it is http://www.thedailyplate.com/
Thanks again
Becky

Hi, Becky, It's better if you concentrate on being healthy, instead of
weight loss. This
way you will not feel that weight is the only measure of how you are doing
on program.
If you did it once, you can do it again. Positive thinking can over come
many
obstacles.
Hugs,
Catherine

I hate exercise and would say I am a minimal mover, I have to eat every
point or I go into starvation mode, I would never eat under my points, but
it is good you are back, and so what if it takes longer, it will eventually
come off and that has to help your other health issues, welcome to this
group, Lee

Short answer is yes, but it won't be as easy. Stay in your point range at
first - for a few weeks and see how it goes. I continued to lose when I was
sidelined due to injury but as a result couldn't really use any of the
weekly flex points if I wanted to see any losses. Keep in mind you'll lose
slowly, which is NOT a bad thing.
Check with your doctor and see if gentle exercise like yoga or tai chi is
ok. I do yoga and there are so many ways to do it without getting your
heart rate up too high and yet you are still working your muscles and
getting flexible.
