From what I understand none of them work. There is no magic bullet to make
you lose weight.  Dieting and exercise should be your first choice.  WW
works well for many who have no clue about portion control or what a healthy
diet consists of, and there are the low-carb diets that work for others.
Take your pick but start somewhere before you develop some serious health
issues.

I started taking Xenical a few years ago.  They were supposed to help you
reduce 10% of your body weight per year.  In my case, they did not work,
other than to give me a real oily, orange coloured stool.  I did notice one
positive effect with them and that is that they also have a side effect of
helping with my diabetes.  They have actually discovered that by taking
them, your BG levels improve dramatically.  In my case, I found that when I
go off them, my BG numbers rise a full point from 6.0 to 7.0......(108
to126), so I continue to take them for my diabetes and not for weight loss.

I also tried Meridian a few years ago and when I found out how dangerous
they are, I stopped them right away.

Those 2 were prescription meds, but I've also tried a couple of other the
counter meds too.  None of them have worked and some of them can damage your
kidneys or get your heart rate going dangerously.

I was 359 lbs and my sincere advice to you is that you should just avoid
diet pills and get serious about changing your lifestyle by eating in a
healthy way and trying to get yourself moving both physically and mentally.

I hope you don't turn out to be a spammer trying to sell diet
pills............

Thanks for the feedback.  To be honest, this is a side benefit of the
med I'm on losing a lot of weight.  Taking it for ADHD actually.  Figuring
out now if the med is helping me cope with not eating like a hog to calm
down or its the appetite suppressant part of it.  Cheers.

When I was a teen, my doctor put me on meds to lose weight, I took them for
3 years and never got to goal, as he only gave me meds and did nothing to
deal with my nutrition or eating habits.  I have now learned that the meds
he gave me were very addictive and not supposed to be taken for more than 30
days and now are off the market due to their dangerous effects.  I wonder
what it did to my body, other than make me feel like I was a speed demon and
slept very little.

Debbie

PS these drugs were given to me from 1976-1979

Hello, Deb.  My humble opinion, your talking Ritalin.  Though its the
nationwide drug it can make you off your rocker.  Rage is also a problem
with it.  Easy way to spot kids taking it they never eat lunch at school.
Never hungry.

My son was also on Ritalin and it really upset me that it dramatically
affected his appetite.
We've since switched him to STRATERRA and although it is much more
expensive, I can honestly say that his appetite has returned and he doesn't
look like he's depressed or spaced out like he was on Ritalin.

Each does lasts 24 hours instead of only 4 hours like the Ritalin.

He takes it at supper time because if he takes it in the morning or
afternoon, it makes him tired, but that the only side effect we've seen.

Actually, it was Preludin and is now off the market and was one of the most
abused prescription drugs that was black marketed in the 50's and 60's.  I
ate very little at all and am still that way, yet I am extremely overweight.
I know it is not the amount I eat, but what I eat that keeps me fat.  I just
have a huge issue with veggies, so I know I may never get to goal if I don't
cross that hurdle and learn to eat veggies.

some of the meds I took for my eyes seriously affected my metabolism, at the
time keeping vision was worth it, now that part of my life being completed I
am trying to counteract the effects, and I find that any reduction in food
intake causes starvation mode, I am just pleased as all get to have stopped
gaining, any I stay under my highest is just gravy, Lee
