My son's 12th birthday... We took him and a friend to the cinema to see
Pirates of the Carribean II: Dead Man's Chest. Fab film! No calories
in that... except... welll...
It was a birthday treat, see? We booked Gallery seats. This means that
you get Big Comfy Sofa seats, a drink (DH and I had coffee, the boys had
soft drinks), a plate of nibbles, and a nice little box of chocolates...
The nibbles were a pile of nachos and salsa dip, 4 profiteroles and
chocolate sauce, and a couple of little muffins between two... I ate
about a third of the nachos and salsa, my two profiteroles with a dip of
sauce on each, and my muffin. DH finished off the nachos, the chocolate
sauce, and ate his box of chocs... The two boys did much the same...
My box of chocolates is still in my handbag!
I'd also swum and earned three bonus points in the morning and skipped
lunch after a late breakfast of porridge with a banana. Dinner was as
per my son's special request: jacket spuds, salad, and my low fat prawn
mayo mix (2 tablespoons half fat creme Fraiche and one of home made
mayo, a dollop of tomato puree and a splash of Tobasco between 4
portions of prawns), followed by a small slice of birthday cake.
Great afternoon with two great lads! I like 12 YO boys: much more fun
than girls of that age! ;)

I have the one boy and no girls, but I used to teach both... I taught
in all boys schools for 5 years, and an all girls one for one term!
Guess which I liked better, were better behaved, and more fun to work
with? Yup, the lads! With the girls one term was as much as I could
take! The only job interview I withdrew from was at a girls school. I
just loathed the atmosphere. Very tense, both staff and kids. Boys
tend to be more relaxed.
Girls may work harder (though that is debatable in my experience) and
boys seem naturally allergic to coursework, but on the whole they are
MUCH easier to deal with! You can tell a lad off in class and 10
minutes later he'll yell Hi, Miss! at you in the yard. Tell a girl off
and she'll sulk at you for the rest of her school career!

I taught 11-18 YO's on and off for the last 20 years, along with a
smattering of adults! They hold no fears for me! ;)

Even my hubby enjoyed himself after a nice lady overheard me ask at the
desk if they had any headache pills and gave him one of hers! :)
Aren't starngers kind, sometimes. Quite restores one's faith in human
beings.

Nice thing about this kind of treat is that you can enjoy it at any age
from 5 up with the right film! :)

Glad you had fun and enjoyed the food and movie! I haven't seen Pirates of
the Caribbean II (or I for that matter). I'll have to rent the DVD's and
watch them-after I do my exercise, of course.
