Birthday Failure

Well, my birthday was last Thursday.  I had a terrible time with it.
Multiple groups made cakes for me.  3 in total.  Then we went to visit
some relatives on the coast and they're not very careful about what
they eat.  I blew program severely all weekend.  I told myself it was
my birthday so I let myself 'splurge'.  Problem is that splurge went
beyond my Thursday birthday and bled all the way into Sunday.  So I'm
hitting the program and the treadmill hard core this week.  It was a
conscious decision.  The one scale I have access to says I may have
already gained as much as 3 or 4 pounds.  Yikes.  But I'm motivated,
I'm back on it.

Luckily I lost enough beyond goal that I'm probably only going to be
back at goal Wednesday morning (weigh-in) for my 4th week of 6 to
liftime.  It was a one-time thing.  My mentality hasn't shifted at all.
I've got two days to try to make up a little for it, so we'll see.  I
know I'll post a gain, the question is how big will it be?  I've got an
event keeping me busy and out of the house tomorrow night so all I have
to do is be disciplined tonight.  I can do it.

Lets see if I understand correctly.  You've lost 65+ pounds and your
beating yourself up for losing focus for a couple of days.  Sounds like
something like I would do.

Hang in Joe and keep the faith.

Well said.. as I always say, you don't get any activity pts from beating
yourself up (if we did I'd be so skinny you'd see through me!!! ;op)

Joe, that sounds like a sensible containment exercise, not failure!  You
relaxed, you recognised the danger, you got back to work and are working
it off!  Success!  May take a week or two, but I'm sure it's worth it
for the fun you had.  :)

Thanks all.  No worries, it will all work out.  Today's been good to
me.  Kept busy enough thus far that endulging hasn't been an issue.  4
points for breakfast, 6 or 7 for lunch, leaving me with half my points
for dinner/snack.  Haven't been good on the water today, but have had 3
cans of diet soda.  I filled up a liter of H2O now and am planning on
finishing it once or twice tonight.  I'm off work soon and will hit the
gym before going home which should win me back 2-3 points for a light
workout.  A sensible dinner of vegetarian stir-fry and a Skinny Cow
should be all that's in the cards for me tonight.  Perhaps a walk with
the wife & kids too if it's not too cold.

I'll try to get to the newsgroup on Wednesday letting everyone know how
I did for my 4th week of 6 to LIFETIME !!!

Later.

Belated birthday wishes and from your follow up post, it sounds like you
are already back on track.

Joe, Don't beat yourself up.  I know what you mean about making a conscious
choice!  I did the same thing in the summer during my cruise and then while
visiting my niece in Ottawa...the result was a 9.8 gain that has taken me 2
months to lose.  Do I regret the choices I made - somewhat, but not really.

I hope you enjoyed your birthday...........get back on track and everything
will work out for you.  The pounds you lose now will be the most important
loss of your life...........you're learning to live in the real world
now.........you can do it.  I know you can!

Thanks Eddie.  No problemo.  We're all good here and back on track.  I
just turned down the last piece of double dutch chocolate cake with
mocha ice cream center and instead had another glass of juice.  :)
It's all good.  Weight Watchers is a great plan.  This whole week,
month, half-year for me is a testament to that.  I can lose weight
almost as fast as I can gain it (within limits).  If there are any
doubters out there happening upon this post, the program works people.
Too many living examples to deny that.
