OK...!  I *really* need some help from you all.  I'm doing WW (just started
a while ago) and am having some problems with REALLY intense hunger in the
afternoon.  I'm fine all morning, I'm fine for a while after lunch, and I'm
fine after dinner (I *never* eat after dinner).  But from about 2pm-5pm or
so, I am *starving*!!  It's making staying on Points VERY difficult.  Anyone
have any suggestions on how I might be able to curb this afternoon hunger?
I'm trying to space out my meals -- eating several small ones, having light
snacks, etc.  And I'm trying to eat fruits & veggies for snacks.  But this
afternoon hunger is killing me!  Any help??  Thanks!!

immediately after the meal that you eat around noon drink a large glass of
water, when you start to get hungry drink another one, you might also be
able to fake your tastebuds out with some splenda and lemon juice in the
water, you might also need to add a bit of protein to that noon meal so it
will carry you through, good luck, Lee

Have you tried holding back a couple of points from  your other meals to
use at that time, perhaps a small wedge of cheese with a big salad? Or
some point free soup with 2 points worth of whole wheat crackers?

Are you eating enough at breakfast and lunch? are you planning snacks in?

We don't know anything, what kind of job do you have? Are you doing a lot of
physical work?

The July/Aug WW magazine had this snack idea:  5 high fiber honey wheat
crackers plus one tablespoon cashew butter and 1 small apple for 4 points.
It looks like they used Kashi TLC crackers.  Maybe substitute reduced fat
peanut butter for cashew butter (double check the point value).  Maybe a
little protein with the complex carbs might curb the hunger.  Just a
thought.  Good luck to you!

I agree with Patty.  You may need something high in fiber or some
protein.  That's what will take away the hunger.

Get off the point system and learn to add calories up.  Very simple.  No
need to 'assign' points to food.
Add calories up to see what you are taking in.
Cut down if needed.
This way, when you go shopping, flip the product over and see how much
exercise needed to burn the product up.  Very easy to figure..
Good Luck

Oh my god... you're not only annoying.. you're dangerous..

"This way, when you go shopping, flip the product over and see how much

That's the stupidest thing I've ever read.. even for a troll..

There can be many reasons for this, and some of it may be habit!  It is
with me: I used to teach, and I never ate properly during the day.
Result: by 4pm when the kids were gone, I was in the staff room eating
anything not nailed down!  Years later, and with much better eating
habits developed through WW, I STILL get that munchie time...

Look at your day: if you start early, have a good breakfast before 8 am
and are ready for lunch by 12  o'clock, you are then leaving a VERY long
afternoon before dinner.  You may not be able to take a later start, but
if possible, have a mid morning snack of something like an apple, and
eat lunch later.  1-1:30 would be good.  Then if you build in another
light snack at about 4:30, that should see you through to dinner.

My pattern today:

Breakfast: 50g porridge oats made into porridge with a little salt, a
spoonful of demerera sugar sprinkled on top, and a dash of semi-slimmed
milk, all for 3.5 points!  :)

Mid Morning: an Alpen Light bar for 1 point

Lunch: a large bowl of zero point soup, and a Philly light sandwich for
2.5 points, followed by a Muller Light yoghurt for 1.5 points: total, 4
points.

Dinner will be: WW recipe creamy chicken with mushrooms, for 2.5 points,
boiled rice for 3, and a Skinny Cow ice cream for 1.5 points.  Dinner
total: 7 points.

This brings the day's total to 15.5 points, leaving me 2.5 points to use
for more snacks, plus a point and a half saved from yesterday.  If I
stay up late and get the late night munchies, I usually go back to the
zero point soups.  :)

If you can also change your work pattern so that you are up and about
and moving at the munchie times rather than sitting staring at a
computer screen, this may also help to distract you.  I find I feel far
less hungry because I'm busy on days when I do a lot of cutting or sewing.

Try a different snack - one with lean protein and fiber.  I find some turkey
or tuna with Wasa crackers is a very satisfying snack.  Also, make sure
you're eating enough at meals.  My new schedule is such that my normal 6
small meals a day wasn't really possible. I have no choice but to go 4 hour
stretches so I eat more protein and just a bit more at a meal.  I'm eating 3
meals and 1 snack a day and it's keeping the hunger at bay.  Don't forget to
drink water because sometimes hunger is really thirst and message is a bit
confused.

My solution is to reach for fruit and water! As much as it takes to fill me
up...........

Sometimes fruits don't do it though.. when I get the real "starvies" I need
proteins... and a little fat..

I agree with Willow.  Fruits don't do it at all for me.  Has to be protein.
I've been having a hard boiled egg as an afternoon snack, or some cottage
cheese.  Seems to work, give it a try.  Also, before eating, try a full
glass of water.

Because of my diabetes I almost always have to save something for
mornings as well as afternoons.  My downfall is I probably don't have
enough protein in the morning.  I haven't quite figured out what the
afternoon issue is, but I am working on it.

The water trick seems to help a bit.  A side benefit of water is I am
not drinking as much soda as I was. (caffeine free - diet before you
start)

One thing I do know is I am an emotional eater so there are many times
I use food as comfort.  .... I am better today, but I do have the
historical pattern with food.

Hmmm.. I think emotional eating is a problem many of us have, I know I do.
So far I'm hanging in there and avoiding any pitfalls I may have.  I've been
turning more to water in the evenings rather than snacking, actually that's
not completely true.  Last night I had a few arrowroot cookies and a ginger
lemon tea, then water.

Evenings are the hardest times for me...I allow 4 points for snacks each
evening (flex points)...During the day I am busy enough to ignore the
cravings...I also use water but often add a Crystal light or WW packet...Of
course then it becomes a issue at night with all the water...Oh well...It's
a small price to pay...GG

That's ok.  Some dinners are more filling than others.  When I eat early
because I have an evening meeting, I try to leave points for something
when I return home.
