Well not really but I'm ticked at the moment. She KNOWS I'm on a diet
and working really hard at it...I was just visiting with her at her
cabin this weekend. She dropped by for 30 minutes this afternoon to drop
of the umbrellas she bought my kids that I forgot at the cabin. Along
with the umbrellas she brought 8 chocolate dipped bear claw donuts :o(
They are sitting on my kitchen counter right now... I AM NOT EATING
THEM, I AM NOT EATING THEM, I AM NOT EATING THEM. Luckily I am full from
lunch (that is another post I have to do) so won't be likely to eat them
any time soon. I'll make my DH take them to work with him tomorrow.

sounds a bit like some sabotage to me, the trash is a good place for them,
Lee, who has a mil that is a health freak so not a food issue with her
anyway,

There does seem to be a breed of people out there that can't stand the
thought of others succeeding at things like diets. I've ran into a few
of them myself. We're coming into the holiday season and that can be
hard enough without family member sabotage.

Dump 'em.
My MIL insists on going to Mexican restaurants when I'm really trying to
watch what I eat. Luckily the one we go to has a decent, lighter meal I've
discovered over time.

Grr! Some folk... !!
Never mind - trash or hubby's work pals are both good solutions. I just
look at stuff like that and say OUCH! as I feel my liver curl!
Just be sure to tell her 'Thank you - Hubby's work pals really
appreciated them. I'm so sorry I can't eat stuff like that any more,
but it really makes me unwell... ' Maybe she'll get the message! I'm
just so lucky that my MIL was never driven to anything but
encouragement, just like my own mum! :)

She probably meant well and didn't think about it........next time, if she
does something similar, be BOLD and strong and tell her Thanks, but no
thanks........if she really cares about you, then she should think before
she does something like this again, well intended or not.
You need to be strong and proud of what you're doing.............don't be
afraid to be honest and stern, especially with those who are close to you.

You know what? If you eat one it won't taste as good as you think it
will. Seriously. Keep the will power!

I am with the others. Trash 'em! You are not being wasteful by doing so. Are
they of any benefit to you or anyone else? No. Its JUNK food, worthy of
trashing. It will feel empowering to throw them out. No one will know.

Well, I believe you should trash them, and tell your MIL you did so. That'll
show her how committed you really are to this. ... and maybe teach her a
lesson!

and I was thinking, if you dropped them on the floor then threw them out you
could honestly tell her, "sorry you spent the money, I knocked them off the
table onto the floor so had to throw them out..." she doesn't need to have
you share you did it on purpose to avoid eating them or beating her, Lee

If you want the behavior to stop, you've got to be honest..
If you inadvertantly dropped them, she'll be more than happy to replace
them..

I know what you mean....last night we went to eat at MILs for a family
birthday celebration, and there was not one green thing there...Then she
acted offended when I didn't want cake or ice cream...
Throw the stuff away...whenever I feel guilty about throwing food away, I
remember the clothes in the closet that are too tight, they are worth more
than the food, and it will feel so good when they fit just a teeny bit
better!

Well I didn't throw them away but they are now gone and I didn't eat
any...not a bite. I am quite proud of myself and my will power over the
past month on WW. Never thought I could do it but now that I am down 10
pounds I don't want to blow this.
