I started WW Jan. 2 of 2006.  Until July 31, I had lost 51 pounds (of a
desired 110 pounds total).  However, since August, I've gone back to my
old, very poosr eating habits.  I'm really afraid to weigh myself, as I
know I've gained some of the weight back since then.  Every time I try
to get back on the flex plan, I wind up sabotaging my hard work after
two or three days.  Has anyone else had this issue?  If so, how do you
go about staying motivated and fighting the urge to eat poorly?

most of us have been where you are, you just have to decide you are worth
the effort and deserve the effort and then... just keep trying, Lee

You have to keep trying.
You have to find the real reasons why you want to lose weight, then keep
them foremost in your mind at all times.
If you really want to lose weight, get healthy and feel better, then only
you can decide if it's worth making this effort a priority in your life.

I deal with this every day of my life, but I can honestly say that slow and
steady, one day at a time is the way to approach things.

I'm 44 and I can't expect to change my habits over-night.

I gained 9.8 lbs over the summer and didn't throw in the towel.  I've now
lost those 9.8 lbs + 1.4 more!..........It's taken me 16 weeks to get back
to where I was, but I stuck it out and I'm finally starting to see progress
again.

Start right now.  Forgive yourself.  Tomorrow is a new day.  Weigh yourself.
Accept the weight you've gained back.  Start your journey again with a new
"I can do this attitude".......You can do this.  One day at a time. You can!
but you've got to want it...............no one can force you.....but we can
offer you support.

Start each day new, no guilt, move on.  Remind yourself why you started
in the first place.  Imagine yourself at goal weight.  Inspire yourself
with a photo of someone whose body you admire.  Most of all, love
yourself.

Good post, excellent advice.  More people do better when
they like themselves then when they are berating themselves.

Get rid of the tempting food - just don't buy it!  If you are going
through an iffy phase, sometimes it is best just not to have the
tempters in the house/office for a while.

I'm sure each of us has been exactly where you are now...This is where it is
all up to you...The real sucess of this program comes from within us...As I
often say WW is no miracle...But it teaches proper eating habits...Seems so
simple...Why did I fail 100's of times before?...Why have I spent my entire
55 years on this earth with weight issues?...This time I am very close to
goal...I honestly don't know what happened...But somehow I just saw the
light or maybe had an epiphany...I have had my ups and downs but even in the
light of failure (at least in my mind) I get up every morning and begin
again...Don't be afraid to weigh yourself...It will tell you what you
already know but so be it...You have come so far...You have to do this for
you...Do you have it in you?...I'll bet you do or you wouldn't even
post...Good luck...GG

Have you been exercising?  That always keeps me motivated.  If I put
that much focus on so much effort and time, I think I try a little
harder.

Don't do it on willpower alone..

Decide what you really want, why you want it, what you need to do to get it.

Write all of that down.. keep it in sight.

Celebrate EVERY victories.. If you step down and eat something you don't
want to, then get right back on track, even if it's between two bites..

Willpower is a myth, what you need is wantpower, and organization.
Will~

Forget about punishment, guilt, and all those negative assessment of
yourself. Look at what you do that works, and work on that.

thoughts and actions work, Lee

Hi, I had the same problem with motivation.  I returned to meetings and
that seemed to help me focus.  I really want to eat better and have
a healthy life style so that is a help.  Maybe you could write a list of the
reasons that you want to do this.  I used food as a comfort and now I
am using other things to help when I am having a bad time, like listening
to fun music and reading.

Catherine

Start over!

I have been on and off WW for 16 years...started before my wedding (wanted
to lose 10 pounds, I weighed 122 at the time
wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!)

Through the years I have gone back whenever I put on a little weight and it
ALWAYS works....In fact, I have so many points counters/boosters, I could
start my own meeting....LOL.  The thing is I would go and get back under
control...After the birth of my second child I had gained a good deal of
weight (170 on a 5'4 body) and lost 40 pounds, I recently gained some back
this school year (said child entered Kindergarten and I now have time to
lunch with friends, started working parttime and dealing with breakroom
snacks)....So again, I am starting over, but I know it works so I am not
stressed, just getting back OP...

If I were you, I would follow the program for about a week, without
weighing, then you many be pleasantly surprised when you step on the scale,
which for me would be very motivating for week 2...

Good luck! This does work!

Meg
