if you eat the day you weigh in or if your bladder is full or you
haven't exercised that day?  I guess what I am asking is when do
external forces make a difference?

BTW the light goes out in the fridge.

I think all of those things play a part, at home experiment if your scale is
accurate, get up and do WI write it down, then after every bathroom break,
and every time you eat something,  if you do this for a couple of days you
will see the immediate effect, and as always it will balance out in the long
run but if you have done good all week and drink 32 ounces of water just
before WI you might disappointed, I know I did that once, Lee

I work all day and have two meals before I WI and because of my
diabetes I can't afford not to eat otherwise my office mates stand a
good chance of finding me on the floor.

I was just idly thinking and the question crossed my mind.  I wanted to
make sure there some validity to my questions and not some Urban
Legend.

Thanks

Ralph

As long as you observe the same pattern weekly, you won't see a huge
difference in your weigh ins (other than what your effort and will
power have produced).

Right! And PUH LEASE keep using your good judgment.. can't say how many
times diabetics have passed out at WW meetings cause they didn't want to eat
before WI...

Thanks, I always have a snack with me on meeting days, usually a 2pt
box of raisons.  Ir brings the Bg back up quick, not a lot points, and
most of, I like them.

Well, last weigh in I had just ate, and my bladder was full. Of course, it
makes a difference, at least regarding your bladder. A full bladder can add
up to one liter of liquid (all depending on the size of the bladder in
question), the equivalent of 1 kilo, which is about 2.17 lb! As for your
food intake, I can't really know... All I know is if I eat a 2 oz Big Mac, I
gain 3 pounds! ;-)

I WI on Friday mornings.
I eat a very light breakfast at 8:30am- only a light English muffin with
sugar free jam, black coffee and a 12 ounce glass of water.
When I get to my meeting around 9:40am, the first thing I do is hit the
washroom and empty my bladder.
Then I step on the scale.............
I always try to wear the same clothes as well.

That's my routine........so I try to eliminate as many external forces as
possible.

Let's see how tomorrow's WI goes.............

There's actually an article in Shape, or Self or a mag like that this month
(can't remember which one because I read it at theY).. and it gives
approximate weight gains/losses from "external forces" For example, eating
sundried tomatoes or another salty food the day before can add 2-5 lbs,
drinking wine can subtract 2-3, etc... It was really interesting, and
frustrating for that matter because some little tiny things can really push
the number up.  Re. the bladder, I ALWAYS went before I weighed in (not
currently a member, but try to follow the plan as a lifestyle...)

I try to reproduce the exact conditions every time I weigh-in.  That
way I know I'm comparing "apples to apples".  Otherwise, I'll get home
and tell myself, "that gain was just because of the pants I was
wearing".  Other excuses could include the time of day, food consumed,
etc.  Which could lead to an extra helping if I let it.

I go out of my way to attend a meeting that takes place first thing in
the morning.  Empty bladder, empty stomach, and I wear the same
undershirt and shorts to weigh-in every time, even if it's freezing
cold.  I'm thinking of getting a pair of those light-weight workout
pants though.  Breakfast is a Special K breakfast bar and a banana in
the car on my way to work (where I change).
