Hey folks - just popping in to say hi and wish everyone a happy holiday
season.  I've been thinking about the folks here and I hope everyone is
doing well.  I'm not doing WW these days.  I just had some major surgery and
the doctor said no restrictive eating.  I haven't been using it as an excuse
to go hog wild.  I'm simply not measuring, counting, or logging things.  I
don't have much appetite so I'm not really worried about my weight.  I feel
a million times better than I did pre-op.  It will be a few more weeks till
I can do anything besides walking and 3 months before I can go back to
weightlifting and volleyball.

We started our own WW like group at work.  There is only 1 leader in our
whole area and many of us don't like the way she does things, including me.
After comparing notes as meeting drop-outs, we decided to have our own
weekly meeting to discuss and share issues and provide support.  When it's
ok for me to go back on plan I'll start counting stuff again.

Have a great holiday!

Happy holidays to you and everyone else too. I hope you continue to feel
better.

Yay for you to have a WW type group at work.  I've been unhappy with my
leader because she doesn't cook and spends too much time talking about
Starbucks drinks and fast food.  I decided to run off my favorite recipe
for the chicken with saffron rice and made copies for everyone at the
meeting.  It was interesting how the meeting discussion changed.

Yep, we do a little bit of recipe trading and some lunch ideas and new,
tasty product sampling.  We've limited the meeting time to 30 min or less
and once I'm back from surgery we're thinking of combining our meeting with
a little yoga workout.

Our local meetings were mostly spent talking about how to make treats and
junk food that were low in points and how to eat the most food for your
points.  That and the fact that in spite of numerous requests, the leader
insisted that people publicly "celebrate" losses.  Personally I didn't think
it was anyone's business if I lost or gained unless *I* wanted to discuss
it.  People, including the leader didn't get why I didn't care for gold
stars and why I didn't want to brag every week with all the details of my
losses. I'm of the belief that people find support in different forms.  I
always loved it when we had a sub because I got to see some great styles and
it gave me faith in the program.

I'm sorry you had to be pushed around like that.

I strongly encourage "bragging" about one's success, both for the "bragger"
and for the group. This being said I would never put anyone in a position
they don't want to be in. It's just not fair, and not helpfull.

I always tell my members that they are stuck with a very extroverted leader,
that doesn't mean they have to be the same way...

I hate it when people try to force others into their mold..

I like the celebrating but I also like that our leader doesn't push it, if
you don't want to share you don't have to, and our celebrating also covers
NSV events and my favorite "a star for I showed up don't push it", Lee
