I may have made this comment before but I'm curious how you feel...After
losing quite a bit of weight I now try and make every food decision the best
possible...I often eat out and have no problem making any meal
compatible...But if I want to stop at a 7-11 or similar market I spend so
much time reading labels and rarely finding a reasonable substitute...The
other day I stopped to look and thought that even some baked chips would be
fine but this market is in a Hispanic area and the clerk says that no one
was interested in them (that's another issue)...All the sandwiches were not
labeled with nutrition information which I would need to make a
decision...After looking at most of the store I walked out with an
apple...Most fast food is now a turn off but I understand the salads are
OK...Anyway know of any quick stop answers?...I guess yogurt and similar
milk based products would work...I follow core and do try and avoid bread
but sometimes I enjoy a sandwich...Anyway...Always enjoy the journey...GG

Eating out on Core isn't easy.. soups are often a good option.. veggie
sandwiches (subway) or wraps..

A little Cafe in my town makes a devilish poratbello sandwich! Not a fast
stop.. but my savior sometimes :o)

Core is very difficult for me.. At the mom and pop stores I look for
fruit, pretzelsand products I'm already familiar with.  At fast food
places the charbroiled or chicken sandwiches with lettuce, tomato and no
special sauce is a good choice with a side salad.  The WW Dining Out
book shows some good choices for each of the fast food places. At Taco
Bell a regular taco without cheese is 3 points.  At Carl's Junior the
charbroiled barbecued chicken sandwich is 7, a side salad without
dressing is 1 pt and a garden salad to go is 2 pts.McDonald's fruit and
walnut salad is 6 or 3 if you don't eat the walnuts.  A plain small
hamburger is 6 points.  You can always get salads with meat on them at
Subway.

Sometimes I know it's good to have food from home in the car.  I take
fruit and tea to work.  If I know I will not be home for lunch and don't
know where I'll eat I'll have some food with me.

I agree that doing core & fast food is almost impossible. The chicken in the
salads is not core so you are basically left with plain baked potatoes
(wendy's) and garden salads unless you want to use some of your points. I
worked next door to a wendy's this summer. My usual lunch out was chili (no
cheese) over a side salad or baked potato for 4 points.  I will do some of
the low point chicken salads at Wendy's or mcDonalds if those are my only
choices of places to stop. Stopping at a 7-11 is difficult too. Some have
salads, fruit cups and LF yogurt.

I made a trip from NJ to MA last June. My only choice on the highway was
McDonalds. I got their apple-walnut salad and some chicken nuggets. Finger
food for the road but it made for a simple lunch for not too many points.

I get the camels soup at hand, or fruit or sometimes I get so grossed out
that I am no longer hungry, and in a real pinch fruit or vegetable juice,
the salads are not bad, avoid dressing and all have nutrition and most are
on the WW data base, Lee

All good ideas...The reality is that although many of us do care...Many
still do not...The fast food and grocery stores  want us to eat...To eat in
huge portions...Many burger places offer 1 lb hamburgers with fries Burger
King offers a triple whopper with cheese 1200+ calories close to 1600 mgs of
sodium and 81 grams of fat...Does anyone really need to eat like that...Well
I did and never thought much about it ...I ate like this for many years...I
remember stopping at my local 7-11 and getting a package of Hostess cupcakes
or snowballs not realizing that the package was 700 calories...About half of
my daily intake today...No wonder many of us suffer from obesity...We were
raised that way...And of course if we ate it quickly and tossed the wrappers
and no one saw us it would be even better...I went to Applebee's the other
day knowing from their marketing in WW to try a new portabella
sandwich...Funny that when I looked at the picture I would never have know
it was half the size of any other sandwich they offer...It wasn't bad just
interesting...Had I noticed the small strawberry in the corner of the
picture I might have been aware of it's true size...My brother ordered the
cowboy burger and fries and gave me a look when they arrived together...I
think the awareness of just what we eat is critical in achieving success
over this monster...Well I have gone on long enough...Always enjoy the
journey...GG

Gary

One of these days I am going to write a letter to Applebees.  Why should
the portabella sandwich be small when we know we can make one for a low
number of points and it can be big and filling.  They could have added a
very nice sized portion of strawberries and/or other fruit and that
would be one point for the fruit portion.  I tried just one of their WW
offerings and was just turned off because it wasn't satisfying.

That doesn't mean I want or need supersized portions.  I just want a bit
of common sense to be used.  On my green salad this evening I can put
lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, green onions, carrot, celery, a few cooked
green beans because I need to use them, sliced mushrooms, and have a
nice presentation of food to eat with my pomegranate vinegar from Trader
Joe's.

Oh, well, it definitely is a journey.

There were 3 pineapple wedges but it just wasn't satisfying...Applebee's in
our area is not very good...Although they are great at illusion marketing
they are a lousy restaurant in my opinion...Oh well..The journey
continues...GG

The WW menu was great when it came out.. but it started with the veggies and
went downhill from there..

microwaved tilapia last time.. I'm done with them... yuck!

Ours has gone downhill too. They used to have a great chicken stirfry on the
WW menu. That's gone and replaced by a very dry grilled chicken sandwich.
yuck. I do like the tilapia dish but our local mexican place does a better
job so we go there instead for fish.

another thing you can do is order whatever you want, but also ask for a take
home container with your meal... then put half of it in the box when you
have portioned out what you want to 'point' out, and have the rest as a
leftover the next day...

people keep talking about this rush rush rush society... but really if you
actually stand up to others and say stop... it will get done in due time...
and being five minutes late is NOT a bad thing... then you can take the time
to eat a decent snack or meal instead of stopping in at all these fast food
places...

how many times did you think about "we'll just grab something on the way
home" instead of popping in to the grocery store for some stir fry veggies
and chicken breast to make a good meal...

I've done that countless times, and with the exception of one or two things
*weddings, good movies* I don't rush anymore... *G*... I don't do fast food
anymore... and If I need to rush a supper, its soup and a sandwich that I
know I made...
