Howdy,
Here I go again for try #3 at Weightwatchers this year. I'll do this.
It took me 13 tries over 1-1/2 years to quit smoking. Now I've been
smoke free for 9 years and 1 month.
My first goal is to be 220# by 6/22.
The next goal is to be 200# by 12/22.
My question. Is it better to walk a short distance briskly or a
longer distance slower?
Thanks,
Richard

I'm no expert and I'm sure you could Google walking and get some great
info...I myself try to walk 10,000 steps a day which for me is about 5 miles
(more on the weekends)...It took me some time to get to a place where the
goal was met and then some 7 days a week...I continue at the same pace...My
goal is quantity and not speed although I do shoot for walking at least over
100 steps per minute as much as possible...My pedometer breaks out steps
done aerobically...And do get a pedometer...It really makes a big difference
when you can see what you really do...Good luck...GG

Basically it's the same thing..
I'd say vary.. that's the best way..sometimes take short brisk walks, and
sometimes take long slower one... that way the body doesn't "adjust" to what
you are doing!

I would say do what ever you like. When I first bought my treadmill I was
kicking a.s, going for the most MPH that I could .... that got old, quick.
Now I walk at a rate that I'm in the mood to do, most of the time that is
rather slow, but I make up for it in time.
I feel better walking 3 mph for an hour than I do walking 6 mph for 30 min.
The slower rate helps me have more energy through my day, after the quicker
rate, I'm too tired to do much of anything else.
Good luck on try number 3, I'm on my 2nd round of WW and doing pretty well.
Slow, but I'm fine w/ that.
