I'm 183 lbs and I do a 60 minute high intensity aerobics class. If my
calculations are right then I have earned 9 activity points for that day. I'm
not complaining but that just seems so much. Is that right? Do I have to
eat them? Is there a calculation/formula online?
Thanks

you don't eat any points you earn unless you need to, Lee

Exactly. I rarely use activity points. I just keep track of them.

You are calculating it correctly.
The formula is: Your Weight/50 X Intensity Level/85 X Minutes
Where Intensity is 1 for Light, 1.5 for Moderate 2 for Moderate-Heavy and
3.5 for Heavy.
Be careful that you are not over estimating the intensity of the workout. My
leader says that very few activities are "high" intensity. Most are really
Moderate-heavy. Marathon training is high intensity but most aerobic classes
are moderate.
Another place to check your activity is here:
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html. I put in your weight and
selected a High Impact aerobic class for 60 minutes. It came back with 581
calories burned. Divide the number of calories by 100 to get the activity
points for WW and that is almost 6 points. Using my formula that is the same
as Moderate-Heavy intensity.
If you are truely earning a lot of points then you should eat some of them.

I agree with a couple of things said first don't over estimate your
points, I was giving myself 13 points for strength training for 30
mins + 30 mins high intesity cardio. After talking with my weight
watcher leaders I realised , I should be getting about 3 points for
the strengh training = moderate for 30 mins. Then 6 points for 30
mins high intesity cardio.
Second point I was eating almost all of my points which were
inflated to start with. Also I was dependant on my exercise points
and planned my meals including them. And I couldn't figure out why I
was "plateauing" out at 49 pounds lost I could't break 50 pounds. My
leaders advised only eat 3 or 4 points from the excercise points. When
I exercise more my body sometimes needs more calories because the
metabolism is burning strong. Now I rarely go beyond my regular points
and I am down 56 pounds as of 10/16.
Talk to your leader about how you are doing calculating your points.
I was advised if I could talk or read a book , I was not getting a
high intesity workout.
