Kate XXXXXX - 26 Apr 2008 09:27 GMT Catching up a bit here...
In the past two months the washer, my computer, the dishwasher, the coffee filter machine, and the toaster have all failed. Some tried to set fire to their surroundings, some flooded them, one tried both! I now need to replace the kitchen work surfaces and floor as they have holes burned in them by the coffee machine. Alan repaired the dishwasher, and has sorted me out a temporary computer. I bought him a new coffee machine, he bought me a new and very cheap toaster (on my instructions - I don't need an expensive computerised taster!).
Several new-to-me sewing machines have landed (I now have 21 in the house, but one is going home next week!).
I've also had a couple of good Faster Than Light sewing projects (this: http://tinyurl.com/39gov4 and this: http://tinyurl.com/3jmpgr), and more to come... The fibro is making life less than optimal on the pain front, the IBS is playing up, and my hair has destroyed the hairbrush.
But! The last 5 sessions of swimming have all been 60 lengths of the pool in an hour, which is great. I'm back to two sessions a week, rain, hair or shine. Next weekend the outdoor pool opens! Yippeee! :D
I'm two thirds of the way through a total mountain if washing (not just clothes, but also towels, bedding, all sorts! Thank God for granny's Towel Mine!), and the new washer is lovely.
The customers laxed lyrical about the FTL sewing projects, I spent 5 days teaching kids in school, and yesterday I got paid! Whoo hoo!
I was down a pound this week. Still three up on WW goal and six on personal goal, but with all the extra stress recently, that's not too bad.

But glad to have you back, and congrats on the pound down! You 're not doing bad at all, remaining close to your goal is a major achievement.

And at a time like this, the money helps! It did mean I could buy the washer I really wanted rather than a cheapo one that would colapse in a year.

Willow Herself - 26 Apr 2008 15:00 GMT Good lord Kate!
And I thought the last month had been hard for me... new perspective!
The first sewing project is awesome! the second one wouldn't come up.. :o/
good about the swimming! When everything blows in your face (litterally! how on earth did you have a coffee maker take fire???) swimming is the best way to vent!
With everything going on, being down AT ALL is huge!!
I had computer issues also, overturned a full glass of water with "mix-in" into my laptop almost 2 weeks ago.. PANIC... but it's fine.. just needed a new keyboard..
Be good n stuff!!

Thought you could! it was a bit worrying at times, especially when I was out delivering costumes to a rehersal and the coffee pot burst into flames. Good job DH was right there and could deal with it rather than in another room! The damage could have been a lot more extensive...

We are not sure how this happened. First thing DH saw was flames spurting out from under it. He lifted it to fling in the sink, after turning it off, and it drip0ped melted metal on the laminate work tops, which, in turn, produced little flames! Those set the edge of my endgrane bamboo chopping board on fire! The metal also dripped on the vinyl floor, melting that and setting fire to it... No one area is very large: up to a couple of inches across. But it got both the big long work top (700mm by 3.6m!) and the standard size one (600mm by 3m), and the floor...
> With everything going on, being down AT ALL is huge!! I'm relieved I didn't go up again this week! I did stay on track better, with better meals planned.

Ovarian cancer is sometimes called The Silent Killer as it can be without symptoms until it is too late. It took my son's first teacher at school, a woman I admired greatly.
My problms were minor, amusing, and time consuming. They took me away from the newsgroups I enjoy. Yours are life changing and you have found a way to cope. You too have my admiration.
The death of someone so close, and so greatly loved and loving is always hard. Time may ease the pain, but there are always memoroes, both good and sorrowful. Keep a star in your heart lit for her always, and the good memories to the fore. She had faith in you. So will we.
