Karen Officer - 15 Mar 2010 05:09 GMT
Lee I sure hope your DH has a quick recovery.   I haven't gone to
weigh in in a while.  I know the weight is up.  There is nothing I can
do about it yet.  Next week though I start a new medication for
thyroid replacement, then will start feeling human again.

he is getting better, we have both had some sort of bug that never quite
goes away and keeps us tired, but not sleepy... and we have to work, but it
seems to be getting better slowly, good luck with the new meds, Lee

After 21/2 years on weight watchers, I'm at a standstill, for the last
3 months I lost 3 pounds and then gained the 3 lbs I loss and added
another 6 lb.  I also had to have my thyroid medicine increased for a
TSH of 11,  I hope to restart next week.,  It's a life time struggle
of mine, I have loss 55 lbs.  I need to lose another 50 lb.  My weight
watcher leader tells me I'm not eating enough points.  I find if hard
to eat 30 pt per day.  I'm very discouraged.

If you're having trouble upping the points, have some good high point foods.
Macadamias or cashews (or other nuts, of course) will do the trick, or some
other healthy fatty/oily food (it sounds like a contradiction, doesn't
it??).

Also change your routine a bit.  If you exercise, change what you're doing.
If you ride a bike, do a bit of walking too (or instead), and try to mix it
up.  If you've been eating chicken, change to an oily fish.

Just a couple of thoughts, but don't get disheartened.  You've done so well
so far, Kathy!

My leader gave a presentation entitled "Make Fat Your Friend", where she
pointed out that you can use fat to your advantage.

The bit about changing the exercise around came from going to the gym a few
years ago.  It was in the context of building strength, but it seems to
apply to most facets of the human body.

I just found this, by the way.  It's my Weight Watchers leader...

http://health.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=858518

It's from a couple of months before I started.

At the sign-up, there was a picture of some fat lady with a baby in the
information pack.  The person running the sign-up session then pointed to
the front of the room where the regular meeting was in progress and said
"That's her...".  Prior to that, I'd seen her out the front and thought
"What would she know about weight loss?  She's probably never been
overweight in her life!".

to get in the points without the volume think healthy fats like walnuts in a
nice salad with olive oil, or some real cheese for a sprinkle on top, or
almond butter, eating the calorie dense stuff with a bit more fat might
help, also increasing meat if you can might help, Lee

Hi.  I still haven't figured out what I need to do.  I restarted my
thyroid medication, but I think it will take a while to take effect.
I did go to weigh in last week and was up 4 lbs.

good luck, with meds, eating right and time are about all you can do, and
the eating right will help when you get the meds sorted, Lee
