Master Cleanse-what if you normally have "number 2" problems?

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this group and need some urgent advice from anyone with
some knowledge or experience of the Master Cleanse / Lemonade Diet.
Today I'm starting the
cleanse and have one main concern.

All my life, I've been fairly "regular" (I'm now 27, so it's not an
old-age problem...yet!), if you know what I mean.  I eat something,
then within the next hour, I'm off to the bathroom.  Some say they're
envious, I say I'm cursed!  It's not pleasant and sometimes an
inconvenience.  It's also not a specific kind of food, just any food.
And the more I eat, the more I go!

Further, for around 6 years (since 21yo) I haven't been able to drink
full cream milk or else I can expect a sleepness night sitting in the
bathroom with the additional pleasure of having extreme cramping.  :(
Other dairy products, unless it's a cheese platter, do no harm though,
so not sure if it's a lactose problem either!

Anyhow, I'm going on the Master Cleanse for two reasons - 1) I've been
eating like a monster for the past year and 2) in the past year I've
gained 10kg and my fat percentage has increased greatly (it used to be
16% or so when I was a fitness junkie!).  Now, I'm not too concerned
about the headaches, as I'm prone to them anyway, I'm not too concerned
about the cravings or lack of food either, I'm concerned about the
laxative tea!!!

If I'm already a very regular person who on a normal day goes 2-3
times, and frequently has minor cases of diarrhea (sorry for the info,
but I guess I can assume it's a frequent topic for Master Cleansers???
lol), should I really take laxative tea???  I work full-time and will
have no time off for the Master Cleanse.  I will arrive home around 7pm
Monday-Friday and I don't want to be up every night for 10-14 days!
:'(  I'm really, REALLY afraid.  :'(  Additionally, I study part-time
off-campus, so I'm up late each night and therefore doing the
"extraction" procedure in the mornings (and carrying the problem to
work!) isn't really an option either.  I've tried the teas already, but
they don't do TOO much, but I know testing them while not actually ON
the Master Cleanse isn't a sign of what's to come.  :'(

Can anyone please assist?  What can I do to avoid having up to 2 weeks
of sleepless nights???  :'(

Thanks so much in advance,
Lara

Honestly, Lara, it sounds like Master Cleanse is a very poor diet
choice for you.  I'm skeptical aboutit being a great choice for
anyone, since it doesn't do anything to establish proper eating
habits, but in your case I'd think it's a particularly bad idea.  How
about just committing to reducing calories and increasing exercise?
You won't lose as quickly, but most of the Master Cleanse loss is just
water weight anyway.  I'd recommend counting calories -- the
fitday.com site is a useful tool for this.  And avoid laxatives as
well as foods that have that effect on you.  (Full cream milk has no
useful place in the adult diet anyway, particularly for someone
wanting to lose weight.)

fugheddaboudit.  see your doctor about the diarrhea.  Then moderate what you
eat, get your exercise, drink your fluids, sleep 8 hours, cut back on
caffeine and alcohol.

You need a bowel movement an hour after eating? Wow!

Do you smoke? That often induces a bowel movement. Could be that.

FWIW - I used to have dreadful problems with irregularity - usually the
other way; i'd go days without going. Yuk!
It all magically righted itself when I got the Magic Three in balance,
these being Water, Exercise and Fibre. Notwithstanding any medical
mitigations, once you get enough of all three, nature takes its course
and you should fall into a daily pattern.

Any sudden change in bowel habit that cannot be explained by diet or a
bug, should be reported to a doctor.

See a gastroenterologist.  Don't do this (ridiculous) "cleansing" thing.
Eat healthy and exercise more.

Hey, you asked  :-)

My advice? Don't.

Eat properly with the right amount of fiber, exercise, drink lots of
water, and avoid milk and milk products.

Why?

Probably because it's a fatty source of calcium which is in the presence
of protein and therefore probably causes the body to excrete calcium
instead of adding it as most believe.

Lara reported problems after eating dairy.  Therefore she should
avoid eating dairy until she is certain something else is causing
those problems.  Eliminate a problem by trying to eliminate its
source, simple as that.

I know - Dairy is good for most people so it can sound strange
that she should avoid it.  It's can't possibly be dairy that's the
source of the problem because dairy is good for most people
therefore it's good for everyone, right?  That's too much like
saying peanuts are good for most people therefore you won't
get sick from eating peanuts, either.  Except that the symptoms
of peanut allergy tend to be fatal not subtle it's the exact same
logic.

Oh, my bad.  Thanks for clarifying.

Lactose intolerance.

My concern is that you're doing a fad diet with no apparent specific
reason that would indicate why you want any fad diet or why this
one in particular.

That doesn't sound like regular.  It sounds like dumping syndrome.
There should be some correlation between meals and movments,
but nowhere near only one hour.

Have you ever tried going 2 weeks dairy free?  Dairy intollerances are
more common than most people realize and digestive problems can
be a symptom.  Rather than lactose think maybe an intolerance to
the proteins.  Doesn't matter either way, if you can't digest dairy and
it causes you to dump and/or insomnia the simple strategy of
avoiding dairy is the way to go.  Think of the stuff as a personal
poison and see if a 2 week dairy-free trial has you feeling better.  I
bet it does.

Diet can cure migraines.  I started low carbing in 1999 and since
then I have had exactly one migraine.  It was during a high stress
2 week project where I lived on high carb junk food.  Back to what
has been my normal food since 1999, and no more migraines
since.

Ditch the fad plan and try an isolation system by going dairy free.
