Thanks :-). Something happened to her on Thursday -- not clear what,
but probably restricted blood flow to the brain due to heart disease
(mitral valve failure) -- that has affected her brain dramatically.
She is pretty incoherent and has little idea who anyone is or where
she is. She's in the hospital right now for some tests -- don't know
what will happen next. Apparently she's relatively stable physically
-- but she does have congestive heart failure and doesn't really eat
-- she's 90 lbs. at 5'5" -- so she's pretty fragile. And she has a
fair bit of pain due to spinal arthritis. Life is not good for her
right now. I think it will be a blessing if it doesn't last too much
longer. But her decline has been very rapid since Christmas and it's
hard for my brother and me to come to terms with this idea. Anyway --
assuming nothing happens in the interim to change this -- I will be
going down there on Wednesday.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother, Chris. I know how stressful it is
to see our parents health decline.

Chris, I'm so sorry to hear all this. I do hope she's not suffering
too much. I'm thinking of you at this difficult time.

Thanks, Janice -- and also to Beverly (whose message I inadvertantly
deleted before answering). We're just taking it a day at a time. At
least I do feel confident that she's getting good care.
