We set out this morning on vacation, after dropping our diabetic kitty
off at the vets.  (We have a pet sitter for the other guys.)  We're
taking an easy route up to Providence, so drove only halfway today;
we're spending the night in Spring Lake, NJ.  I'm in vacation eating
mode; so not setting a good example :-).

Food:

* 6:15 (home): oatmeal w/ peanut butter & flax seed
* 9:45 (driving): 1 1/2 deviled eggs (which I make with no mayo, just
mustard and spices, so they keep better in the car)
* 12:00 (restaurant): crab melt (like a tuna melt but with crab --
crabmeat salad topped with melted cheese on English muffin -- yummy
but rich and more than I needed -- would have been fine with half but
I'm not leaving crabmeat behind :-))
* 4:30 (living room in the inn where we're staying): 1 glass lemonade;
6 mini cookies
* 5:00 (our room): 2 small glasses wine
* 6:45 (restaurant): small steamed lobster; waffle fries; chocolate
mousse cake; 1 glass wine
* this evening (hotel room): 1 glass wine (sipping as I watch American
idol and do internet stuff) {This is more wine than I'd usually drink
in one day, but (a) the bottle we've opened is a relatively low-
alcohol wine -- a German riesling spatlese, and (b) the bottle cork
was damaged and got destroyed in opening, so we can't recork and
decided we might as well finish it :-).}

Exercise:  none of significance

Re the subject line: I'm having trouble with the "x" on my keyboard.
It isn't very responsive, so unless I really hit it hard nothing
happens.  Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix a letter on a laptop
(IBM Thinkpad) keyboard?

Assuming it's the dirth, you just need to clean it :-)

doing it?)

However, with older keyboard some circuit worn off, they are just
printed on a paste sheet.

Probably just something under the key. Try blowing some compressed air, or
tapping it lightly while upside down. If that doesn't work, you can try
lifting the key up a bit and pulling out whatever with small tweezers. And
don't eat Chinese food over your keyboard any more. ;-)

Well, I don't.  I did spill wine on one once, though; took out the
whole laptop :-(

I spilled a coke on mine. Dell's cost of repair deemed it "totalled." My
new laptop came with the 2 year "whatever" warranty. Whatever I do to it,
they'll fix it. ;-)

Well, no, but at least whole Thinkpad keyboards are available from IBM
(or Lenovo) and they are easy to replace. They have downloadable
hardware maintenance manuals too that show how.
