I've entered a body transformation challenge!

Yep, that's right, I've gone and done it now!

The plan I am eating on, which I really like and feel I can keep up
for a long time to come, i.e. the rest of my life is one developed by
John Berardi of PrecisionNutrition.com

So, he started a body transformation challenge. And I asked myself if
I could do it. I think I can, and therefore, I entered. I don't
suppose I'll actually win a prize, but if I manage a better body
composition, it will be a win anyway.

Wish me luck!

Today we started a two week "kick start" session of very low carb,
moderate fat and lots of protein, then the plan is to transition back
into the regular PN eating style.

Never done anything like this before, but so far, so good. I hope to
be leaner, healthier and stronger at the end in November!

Cool!  I'm eater to hear how it goes!  Are the other participants
physically present near you, or are they connected via the internet or
something?

We use the Precision Nutrition forums to log and keep encouraging each
other... I haven't seen anyone from my part of my state post.

The forums are actually open for anyone to read if they sign up for an
account... it's just those who have bought PN who can post though, I
think.

I'm hoping it will go well. This is so different from anything I've
done before, people seem very bemused when I tell them what I'm up to.
I guess really fat people aren't expected to do stuff like this. I do
think I'm about the highest BF% of anyone I've seen post, but there
are definitely a few other older and high BF% women doing the
challenge too.

Still, it is intimidating to see the exercises some of the stronger
and leaner folks can do, while I'm still struggling with what seem to
be minor weights in comparison.

Last night I watched a DVD from the War Of The Worlds TV series.  I was
surprised that the Martians used body transformation to look like humans.
There was nothing like this in the movies.

This is so new to me I might as well be a Martian, LOL! I certainly
feel a little alien these days!

So far so good. I was scared I would feel sick on the low carb
kickstart diet portion, but not so far. I guess I eat low enough on
the carb scale (125-150g with plenty of fiber) normally that it is not
a shock to my body to go lower still. Yet.

I am seeing some weight loss... don't know if it is just water or
possibly some fat. Tanita scale did indicate a small drop in BF% this
morning (5th day of diet) and that's encouraging, but I can't hardly
count it as a trend yet.

Even if it is just water weight... my ankles appreciate it, LOL!

No cravings, other than for water and lots of it! But I wasn't
expecting to have a lot, again, as I'm coming to this from a mostly
veg and fruit carb lifestyle.

Workouts are going OK... I've got a new set of exercises, so am still
kind of playing around with getting the weight right for those. I went
heavier yesterday and survived it.

Have been running 6-7 meals. Meal one eaten, meal two and three
prepared, and I'm about to get off to water aerobics and swimming
shortly!

OK, so far so good on the low carb kickstart diet. Headaches, yes,
some low energy, yes, but otherwise OK, though I will be glad when I
hit the transition part next week, and even happier when I get fully
back to PN in three weeks.

Current weight is down by 5.5 pounds since starting the challenge and
doing the kickstart diet. I suspect most is water weight, but we'll
see, I have been hitting the workouts hard.

Not today though, yesterday and today (and probably for another couple
days as well), I've tackled a big project, draining the leaky pool so
that hopefully it can be fixed. Goes slow though, I just keep the pump
running, and go out and brush down and rinse as she goes. The water
level was low to start with, but still, it's taken all day to reduce
it by about 2.5 feet.

Had to miss a weight workout today to babysit the sump pump, but will
try not to miss further workouts if I can manage it. The scrubbing
down is a pretty good arm workout though.

Good for you, Cynthia!

I find that whenever I've fallen off the wagon, so to speak, low-carb is
the best way (for me) to kick start the WOE and get back on track.

Now, if I could just manage to exercise like I should, I'd be good to
go...but summer is my busy time at work, and it's all I can do to sneak
in a walk around the block!

Good luck on your challenge, Cynthia.

Thanks Amy!

Well, I am looking forward to the transition period back to PN... I
admit that. That basically will be similar to how I'm eating now,
except every third day, I can eat normal PN style (which runs more
like 125-150 carbs for me). I get to do that for two weeks too.

Weight was actually up a pound today, has to be water retention, I was
tired yesterday and only ate five meals... so no way could I have over
consumed calories!

Will try and drink more today, but now the pool level is such that
when I start the pump again, I'm going to need to be out there every
10-15 minutes and oftener as the level sinks. I did some this morning,
but it's time to get ready for water aerobics now.
