A workout plan that's more intense than usual will cause the
muscles to hoard glycogen until they have grown more slow
twitch fiber to improve conditioning. Working out once per
week probably triggers a hoard/build cycle. I think most of
the gain is temporary water gain from the water used to
dissolve the glycogen. It would drop faster if you worked out
more often but what you can do is what you can do.

The word is density - Muscle has higher density than fat.
Lead as higher density than aluminum.
Fat floats, muscle sinks. I don't know the ratio. The exact
density of both fat and muscle probably varies enough it's a
range not a number.

Right. The BMI is high for both fat people and also muscular people,
so what a person might like to know is the percentage of fat they
have, and this is not easy to obtain precisely. Just looking is not a
bad way. In fact it often beats the faulty measurements that can come
from the resistence electronic measurements or caliper measurements,
and the really accurate way to measure, ie: submersion weighing is not
offered in many places and when it is, it is expensive. I think he's
wondering if he is putting on muscle vs. fat. In your example of lead
and aluminum, which is correct, it also tells us that the lighter
weight material has more volume for the same amount of weight so fat
(and aluminium) has a larger volume. For this reason, the measurement
of waist and hips isn't a real bad method to determine if you are
overweight too. Of course there are only guidelines and they are based
on height. dkw

Actually a pound of muscle weighs exactly the same as a pound of fat.
But of course the muscle is denser. Is your body becoming smaller?

Hi thank you for the replys , i would not say smaller , but more toned ,
less flabby looking , i have quite broad shoulders and carry my weight well
, my belly is not looking rounded and my shirt size has dropped i used to
buy XL but not now i buy Large size and they fit well and are not tight when
i sit down , i must say i do drink lots of water when i'm training
espeically due to the summer months and the warmer weather in the U.K., i
feel much healther , but do some days fall of the bandwagon and maybe have
something sweet/sugary or high in fat content , but oddly enough once you've
been away in general and not eating all that kind of stuff day to day,
after eating it i kinda dont feel like that was nice or wow i should have
another , it tends to leave me unsatisfed and not egar to have more , i
enjoy having more energy from eating much more of the right foods , fruits ,
seeds , nuts etc with a treat at the weekend with a nice home made sunday
lunch , which is the carrot for this donkey which helps carry me through the
week.
