Hey, those steel cut oats are good!

I finally found the Irish oatmeal (McCanns) at a local supermarket. It
tastes good. Amazing that is tastes different from rolled oats. They
even smell a little differently....more like oats from a field smell
if you've ever been around those.

Another thing I tried was using the 8th Continent light chocolate soy
milk to make instant pudding. It works great. I don't follow the
recipe. What I do is dissolve a packet of Knox gelatin in hot water,
then add more water to bring the volume to 2 cups. Then I use just 1
cup of the soy milk (90 cal), white chocolate sugar-free instant
pudding along with 6 packets of Splenda. Stir like crazy after adding
the liquids and pour into bowls. I make only 2 large servings each
with only 100 calories from this. Try it. It is really delicious! Of
course you could use fat-free milk instead of soy milk and that is
what I had been doing....but this actually tastes better. It's
probably the chocolate in the soy.

Two culinary discoveries in one day. I'm ecstatic. dkw

You can usually get them cheaper in the bulk sections at your grocery store

I'll look, but bet I will have to go to San Antonio if I decide to
stock up, since I looked at all the local supermarkets before finding
these. I'm sure Whole Foods has them in bulk, but I'm thinking they
won't be so cheap there.....nothing else seems to be. Often I walk
through and just eat their healthy snacks they hand out as samples.
Surely Wild Oats would have steel cut oats too. I'll try there also
and call first. Thanks. dkw

It's worth a look. At the supermarket, I found Bob's Red Mill steel
cut and they were significantly less than the McCann's, though I kept
the can from the latter to store them in, LOL!

Glad you liked them!

Bob's is what I use. To me they are just as good as
McCanns!
