It's great to see a group of people that are really supportive of each
other in this common quest of weight loss.  I've read several of the
posts and I'm impressed with the genuine support of each other.  I've
done the Body For Life diet plan (with the exercise) and it worked.  I
lost 25 lbs.  But what I found was that the eating part had too many
supplements and it was hard to come up with good proteins for the 2-3
additional meals (hence the supplements).  I didn't feel it was
sustainable for the long haul.  The exercise part of it was, but not
the diet.  Besides, ALL of those protein powders and protein bars
taste awful.  Has anyone that has used them know the aftertaste that
lasts all day?  Now I just try to work on eating a sensible, healthy
diet and continue with the resistance and interval training.  I think
the biggest part of the whole weight loss thing is not to beat
yourself up if you miss a day of exercise or just can't eat very well
one day.  So what.  Just start again the next day.  It's a lifestyle
change not a short term struggle to a goal.  It's gonna take a while
for the change to be the norm rather than the exception.  I've got a
blog about this topic that offers some info and encouragement.  Check
it out at: http://getridofstomachfat-therightway.blogspot.com/

If you ever want to go back to eating the 5-6 meals a day, you might
look into Precision Nutrition... it's a plan that has similarities
with Body for Life, only less supplement oriented, and based on doing
some food prep in advance so that you can eat whole food for the extra
meals instead of gulping down tons of protein powder. Not that PN
doesn't make use of powders for those who care to, but it's not
necessary or preferred. I do one protein powder smoothie on most days,
the rest I eat whole food meals.

However, nothing wrong with just eating sensibly either and continuing
to exercise! It's certainly going to be easier than doing the 5-6 meal
a day thing! I haven't decided yet if I can do this for life, but I
have to say that so far, it feels good to me!

What you said about not beating yourself up for a goofed eating day or
missed exercise is SO TRUE! Just start again next meal, next day and
go forward, not backward. It's been a long time learning for me, but
it does work. I just had a couple bad eating days, but today I'm right
on track, eating healthy again.
