Day 5 of 100 days. 6 pounds gone.

I got on my balance-beam scale this morning and saw that another pound
it gone. I weigh 244 pounds (just below the 245 pound mark). Last
night, before I went to bed, I'm sure that I was at least several
pounds over this mark. I drank a lot of water last evening at the
birthday party for one of our children and that was reflected on the
scales. However, I had to wake up several times in the course of the
night to use the bathroom and in the morning I actually lost a pound.

I had more calories yesterday that I was hoping to--about 1600
calories at all. However, this morning, I was listening to radio
physician Dr. Dean Edell and he said that the average calorie intake
in the United States was 3770 calories, the highest calorie average in
the world. Canada is second. (Please see the Reuters News article of
Jul 29, 2008 entitled: “US food portions: Monuments of Decadence?” or
just plug “3,770 calories” into your Google search engine.)

The average American eats out about six times a week and gets much of
the calories at that time. So, even though I had more calories
yesterday that I should have, I'm not consuming the average amount of
the American caloric intake. Although I'm sure I was a week ago.

I hope everyone is able to get control of their caloric intake and
follow the basic truths that to lose weight, one simply must take in
fewer calories than one needs to maintain one’s weight.

From my perspective, my game face is on and I’m in training to get
healthy by Thanksgiving! (Not even desert or beer at last night’s
birthday party, and the meal itself was not more than about 800
calories.)

Have a great weekend and a great week and month ahead!

Yours,

Caleb

Just came back from a 40 minute walk with ankle weights (10 pounds on
each ankle) and pumping 10 pound weights up and down. Arms are very
tired but a very good, sweat inducing workout. Listening to my mp3
player at the same time.

Very nice night out here with very pretty clouds, etc.

I had about 1500 calories today, everything being even, and
subtracting about 400 for the exercise, about 1100 calories in all so
far today.

I hope everyone finds a plan that works for them and sticks to it!

Yours,

Caleb
