I don't think anyone is surprised that being over weight is unhealthy.
That is why we visit these groups.
5. Should I cut back on fat to lose weight?
The goal is to cut back on calories, and a common mistake is to focus
only on fat. Fat is satisfying, and in the long run low fat diets have
generally failed as a way of weight control. For good health, the type
of fat is more important than the amount; eat plenty of unsaturated
fats, limit saturated fat, and avoid trans fat.

Gary Taubes questions the advice of substituting unsaturated fats for
saturated, as well as low fat diets, in his book "Good Calories, Bad
Calories".

The best advice that I can give is to avoid sugar, white flour, and
white rice, and eat 5 portions a day of fruit and vegetables.
Good luck.

And if you do eat white rice better eat beans. In fact, I recommend
beans as a major protein source. Beano or other targeted enzyme may be
necessary in the big inning.

Yeah, but it is still carbs. Better to emphasize protein, fat, and
veggies.
