I will spend a few days on holiday.
I would very much like not to gain weight back.
I lost 3 pounds in the last month.
I will go to the mountains and ski.
Have you got tips to suggest me?

Ehm, I forgot to say I will stay in a hotel, I will eat in the
restaurant's hotel and I will not walk/run for 10 k five times a week
as I'm doing now.

One thing I can think of is that I could not miss my fruit snacks so
that I do not get so hungry at meal's time.
Any other idea?

I'm sure you'll get plenty of exercise with the skiing.

Eating meals out doesn't have to be a dieting busting event.  Stick to the
healthy choices on the menu and take it easy with the extras such as bread,
butter and desserts.  If they have a breakfast buffet you might be able to
pick up some fruit for your snacks.  If not, visit a nearby market and buy
some.

Have fun!

Often times, when my BF and I dine out, we refuse the bread or the chips
brought to the table.  Really good bread and butter is easy to go through
without thinking and can double the calories consumed in a meal.   It also
helps you to enjoy your entree more if you are not already full when it
arrives.

I always draw an imaginary line through my food and eat exactly half and
then take a break for about ten minutes.  If I am still hungry, I eat the
rest.  One of our favorite resturaunts serves an iceberg wedge that is a
meal in itself.  I order it to go when I place my order.  It is too much to
eat with an entree.

If you are changing time zones, it may help to eat at your regular time.
Chances are you will be hungry then, anyway, regardless of what you ate an
hour or so before.

Eat healthy reasonable portions and all should be well.

Paul's advice here is sound. My family is going to Disneyland next
week (first time, so it's a big deal for us). I don't plan to count
calories while I'm there, but there are some easy ways to stay on
the right nutrition path. For example, substituting fruit or veggies
for french fries (my 6-year-old does this all the time), or avoiding
those sugary high calorie drinks...

Well, we got back on Saturday night -- what a trip! We had a terrific
time, and though I didn't count my calories, I did try to follow my own
advice, above. Fortunately, we ate at the restaurant next to the hotel
a lot, and they were happy to substitute fruit for fries. I did gain
back two pounds, but I tend to think it might partially be fat that
converted to muscle, because we walked all over the park for 4 days.
I'm still kinda tired, but it felt great!

Regardless, I'm back to my 1500 calories per day today, and I finally
had Hubby take my measurements yesterday, so I can go by those as well
as weight (which gives a more accurate overall picture, IMHO). I also
have my first diabetes nutrition class tomorrow, which should be very
helpful with my new WOE. It was great being on vacation, now I'm ready
to get back to work on me... :-)

Welcome back JJ and good to hear you sounding determined to get back
to your WOE.  Hope the class goes well - do share with us what sort of
advice they give you.

I wound up going to two classes -- one on diabetes nutrition, the
other for diabetes education. The nutrition class was fun; the lady
running it was very upbeat and helpful. I got a chance to talk to her
one on one and she was pleased with my new WOE, although she said I
needed to spread out my carbs more and get more protein. I'm relieved,
because I like my current diet, and was worried that I'd have to make
some big changes to meet my needs for controlling blood sugar. They
are having a free support group meeting next week about meal planning
that I want to attend; I'll take all the help I can get.

Speaking blood sugar, I'm already seeing a difference there. The
blood test taken just before I started this WOE showed a fasting
glucose level of 200 (yow!). After 4 weeks of 1500 cals per day and
avoiding refined sugar (not including my week in Disneyland), I tested
at 129 this morning before breakfast! It should be between 80 and 120,
but I'm very encouraged; it makes me want to stick with this even
more...

Welcome back, JJ - you sound good and motivated.

No matter how much fun I have when I go away, I'm always happy to get
back to cooking my own food and eating my own plan.

(and walking on my own roads!)
