I weighed this morning and found I am little under 160 lbs.
I am pleased with the result (I started from 165, 3 about two months
ago), I havent' weighted this much since at least 9 years, although I
could have done more.
Anyway I am pleased because I went on holidays and ate more than
expected, and exercised less than expected, but managed not to gain
weight back.
Last time I was on holidays I actually gained about two pounds in one
week, so I am actually pleased with the result.
I jog for about one hour 5 times a week.
I started two mounths ago from walking.
I am still very slow but I know I will improve my mileage as I
continue training.
I had some problems these days so that I could not sleep at night, but
going to the park and having my exercise helped me and I feel better
now (and sleep again).
In the park where I jog I often see people looking very sad.
If I could I wold tell those people, get up, life is not always easy
but sitting looking sad does not help, try to exercise, walk or run,
as I did, in the cold and in the snow, it does help.
I cannot tell those people but I can tell you.
(get medical advise if you need it).

Congrats on your loss! Slow is good. It is said that the slower you lose
the less likely you are to gain it back. You will accomplish your goal. I
know you can do it.
Yes you are right about people looking sad. I try and smile all the time.
Even when I'm sad. If I make eye contact with someone I will always give
them a nice truthful smile. MOst people just look at me like I'm on drugs
or totally insane when I'm driving down the road witha big smile on my
face. :) . But I am past the point that I care how others judge me. Sooo
keep moving and keep smiling!! :) :) :)
Congrats again on your success. Keep posting....

That's a great idea!
Tomorrow I will try and smile at the people looking sad in the park,
too! :-)

Gee alien, I never would have guessed that about you. If you were a girl
I'd call you "spunky" :)

I'm glad to see that you are feeling so much better and losing weight!
I agree... I was never much of an exerciser, but I love it now. Are you
going to be adding strength/weight training to your routine?

I started doing something from Krista's site, but not every week.
Do you think it would be important for me to start weight training
more seriously?

In a word - yes.
I lost a lot of weight doing mostly cardio (running) and some light
resistance training, but I also lost a lot of lean mass. Adding serious
weight training has made such a difference in my physique that I really wish
I'd started it sooner.

Hello Estella,
Way to go on losing more weight and running as well. I wish I could run.
The more weight I lose, I feel as though I could run, but when I go walking,
I want to start to run, but get nervous and think I'm going to fall or look
silly.
Keep up the good work with your eating and exercise.

Injuries are frequent amont runners, (and among heavy runners) so it's
important not overdo.
It's better not to run if you do not feel to.
I think cycling is better to prevent injuries, but I prefer to run
because I feel it is safer.
If I went cycling, I should of course made at least 20 km a day, most
of them in heavy traffic.

Hey Paul,
With your injuries to your leg, I'd seriously advise discussing running with
a doctor before trying it. The last thing you need is to be hampered by an
injury, the heck with looking silly. The main reason I avoided running
outdoors this winter was to prevent injury from slipping on the icy roads.
I even gave up XC skiing because I kept falling and injured my tailbone,
thus restricting my activity.
I've even decided to take the rock climbing back a notch. Last night one of
the women took a fall when she was too high up without a harness (we were
doing horizontal climbing) and broke her heel. She's off of her feet for 8
weeks. If that were me I'd be screwed or probably homicidal within the
first week.
