I have been stuck at 165 for 3 weeks now. I exercise every other day and
have cut back on calories. Any suggestions for restarting weight loss. Want to
get to 140.

Rule 1 when hitting a plateau. Stay focused. Don't get discouraged.
Don't cut back to far on calories or the weight you do lose may be more
muscle than anything. Instead of exercise every other day add a few more
days in there. Say maybe one day on and one day off. Then 2 days on the 1
day off. Then repeat. When you build up your stamina, shoot for 6 days a
week. I would suggest adding strength training if you haven't already.
This will help build/maintain muscle and in return boosting your
metabolism. Try and get enough protein/carbs to keep those muscles fed.
You don't have to go overboard, just enough to keep you healthy and
burning fat.

how tall are you? how much exercise do you do? How many calories do
you eat? When is your period due?

Well, sometimes plateaus just happen. One thing you might try is
really cutting back on sodium for a week or so. I've done this
recently when wanting to make sure to make weight for a weightlifting
competition. What happened was that I lost weight, some of which of
course was water weight, but when I went back to normal eating I only
put part of it back on -- like maybe lost 5 lbs. and put back on 2-3.
It might be a way to break out of a stall.
