My office is right next to the kitchen at work.  That is a struggle
enough as it is.

But right now, somone has made some chocolate coffee.   The smell of
chocolate is permiating into my office.

MUST RESIST!!!!!!!

The problem,  I don't drink coffee, and don't like the taste of it.
But that smell of warm chocolate is like smelling chocolate chip
cookies or brownies being baked.   It gets the senses going, the mouth
watering and the tummy grumbling

My splenda sweetend yogurt is a poor match, but I will make it work.

LOL wow. You should be a writer. I'm hungry now.  You can resist.

> My splenda sweetend yogurt is a poor match, but I will make it work.

Now I'm depressed thinking of all the splenda sweetened yogurt that is
in my fridge. :) Just think of how much better that yogurt is for you.
You can resist.

I guess that I'm surprised with your response Jay Jay! I think of you as
ths strong never waving person who made it to thin and has strength
against EVERYTHING now. I'm not being sarcastic but it really seems that
you are very strong and each time I see that you are having trouble it
kind of shocks me. After ALL THESE years here and STILL having weak
problems? I'm with over 36 LBS gone and 12 or 15 still to lose but I'm
weak at times with food. Do you EVER give in to temptations of foods? Or
are you always strong now? I sometimes feel that I'm never making the
grade here because I fall down sometimes. I'm still doing a good food
plan that's sugar free for one year now.
Keep up the good posts! I always read you.

Glo,

I do struggle with temptations and I do struggle with wanting to eat.
If I'm in my comfort zone for weight, then I'll indulge occasionally.
I have a serious sweet tooth.

But since my wedding, trip then return to a very stressful life and
work, I've gotten out of my comfort zone for weight.   I want to lose
weight before I have to buy larger clothes.   That means going back to
a stricter eating  regimine and having to fight those temptations to
just grab donuts and junk.

Right now my struggle is from spending a month on vacation and eating
very rich foods, then returning to stress and eating comfort foods.
Trying to get back to healthy eating habits is a struggle.   You know
what I'm talking about.   You know how hard those first few weeks are
when you try to limit sweets.

Today the day has gotten worse, in that they decided to celebrate
Birthday's today.   The kitchen is now full of
Donuts
Bagels
Danishes
and for the *healthy conscious* bags of individual cheese sticks, and
fresh fruit bowls.

I opted for a piece of cheese and some fresh fruit to go with my
yogurt this morning.   And I've now shut my office door.    See, my
*friendly* coworkers walk by my office and offer to grab me a donut or
get me something.   They then return with their goodies and think they
can socialize for a bit while they have their donut and coffee in
front of me.

Yes, I'm struggling.   And knowing my will power right now, I'll most
likely cave in.  I've already got a headache settign in, and every
time I leave my office I walk through the kitchen to get to the other
side of the building and all that food is screaming for me.   This
place smells like Krispy Cream or the Bagel Factory.   Even with the
door shut.

How about some sugar-free hot chocolate? (60 cal)  I have a few packets at
work for when I'm really needing a fix and the single hershey kiss doesn't
cut it.

Another thing I do is flavored herbal teas (like almond or raspberry) and
just sit with the cup under my nose to block out the smell that's tempting
me.

I've heard of using menthol rubs and other things on the upper lip if you're
easily swayed by smells.  I had to use them temporarily when I had a problem
with an extremely good sense of smell.  I was going around gagging at even
the slightest b.o. or bad breath around me and couldn't get near people.

I went searching for some.  We only had regular hot chocolate, and not
any of the sugar free stuff.   Not having it readily available doesn't
help when the craving hits like that.    Its not usually something
that bothers me, so its not something I think about often.   For
whatever the reason, it did hit hard today.

I tried the mint gum trick today, but that didn't help.   I caved, and
ate, and ate some more.   But I went light at lunch and I'll go light
at dinner tonight too.

How can you eat just one Kiss???  I have such an addictive personality, I
can't eat just one w/out wanting to eat the whole bag....

I found some Splenda sweetened blue bunny ice cream pops at the store with
90 calories each.  They are good, but not so good I have to have more then
1!

I never tried menthol rubs...  I do have an increased sense of smell now
since I quit smoking in October.  I can't stand being around people that
smoke now.

There are 2-2 1/2 weeks of every month when it's entirely manageable for me.
I don't have the slightest urge to overeat.  That's when I can do it.  There
are times I think about eating a whole bag, but have never followed through
on that urge.

We enjoy the 60 calorie fudge pops w/ Splenda.  Even if one of us went nuts
and ate the whole box of 6 it would still be fewer calories than cheesecake.
Of course the potential laxative effect does serve as a deterrent.

***My urge would vary on how much I stress I was under at work.  If I am
very stressed out, I'll tell myself I'll eat just one... then return to the
receptionist's candy bowl over and over again for more.  If it was a good
day.... then I would take one while leaving the office so I couldn't go back
to the bowl.

***Are they made by blue bunny too?  The popsicle brand ones were good
before I learned about how bad aspartame is.  I threw them all out months
ago.   If you don't mind an extra 120 calories... try the Eskimo Pie slender
pie ice cream sandwich wtih splenda... YUM.  I am so thrilled to see so many
more items made with splenda these days.  I hope they don't discover that
splenda is bad for you, like with aspartame and sacc.

I've seen the other stuff, but it doesn't do anything for me.  I always
liked fudge pops and besides the occasional buster bar from DQ I was never
much of an ice cream person.

I figure some day someone will discover all of the horrible things that
Splenda does to the body and by that time I'll be completely screwed :)

Lucky you!  I may have also received an email, but my spam catcher probably
got it.  Yahoo is good that way.

But yahoo only blocks 100 spam email addresses before you have to buy a more
expensive version!!!  I filled up my spam blocker months ago
(unfortunately).

I bought a program called Spam Inspector.  It has forever changed my
relationship with email.  It doesn't catch everything but it catches a lot.

Also, with yahoo, for about 5 bucks a month you can get yahoo plus which
includes the spam filter in addition to many other cool things (at this
moment, I have launch plus playing without commercials).

I hate to see the government get involved in stuff but anti spam laws would
be welcome in my opinion!

Oh I so know that feeling.  Hang in there jj, you know that it would not
satisfy you if you ate any of that crap anyhow.  At least that has been my
experience.

I know it is hard smelling something you are craving, but I must say that a
gas station convenience store near me featured a coffee "Death by Chocolate"
in February that really helped me with my chocolate craving.  It was like
drinking aliquid candy bar, without the calories.  Sorry you can't indulge
in that...I find flavored coffees a big help.  From your posts, it seems
you've had quite a time since returning from your honeymoon....just think
how hard you'll laugh about it in 25 years.  Yeah, I know it doesn't help
now.    Good luck...here's to a relaxing weekend.  Elise.

Maybe if you got a small cup and tasted it, it would ruin your perception of
that smell?  Personally, I much prefer the smell of coffee to the taste.  I
found this great Vanilla Chai tea made by Good Earth that tastes awesome and
is a little sweet...
