Hi All
This is week 3 of my weight loss plan. I started at about 297 pounds. On
Sunday morning when I weighed my self I was down to 285 pounds. I know I
shouldn't weigh my self mid-week but this morning I did and my weight had
went up to 290 pounds. I am puzzled since I am still sticking rigorously to
my plan AND last night I was on the exercise bike for 30 minutes and really
went for it.
Ho hum... 'suppose I'll just have to knuckle down and work harder.
Jim.

Don't let that pound get you down, Jim. It's not unusual to gain a pound
or so after exercise. The muscles retain water. It also can be caused by
water retention from salty food, etc. It takes 3500 calories to gain a
pound and I doubt you've over ate by this amount.

Read Carol's "waking up fat" thread. It might help. If
you feel you've been doing everything right, then stick
with it and stay off the scale until your next
scheduled weigh-in.

Jim, I KNOW how you feel!! I have weighed myself from AM until PM EVERY
DAY! This is big torture and I've quit doing it as it really screwd up
my whole plan! Now I FEEL normal as I KNOW that 'thin' people SELDOM
weigh at all. I WANT TO FEEL NORMAL!! After doing scales OFTEN for many
years I'm now NOT doing this and boy does this feel liberating!
I'm off to finish packing as I leave tomarrow for the big beautiful
Texas!
Jim, YOU CAN do this and you have a WONDERFUL HEAD START!Don't give up.

No, no, just quit weighing yourself so often! I speak from experience;
your weight can easily fluctuate by a pound or two overnight. Weigh
yourself just once per week for a more accurate accounting.
Now if only I could follow my own advice... ;-)

Way to go Jim,
Your doing great at your weight loss. Don't fret over the weight gain,
it's only water retention. I weighed 210 one day and over the weekend and
eating right too, I weight 219. I almost freaked out cause I hadn't seen
such weight gain so fast before. Two days later I was back to 210. Don't
go killing yourself and working out any harder than your use to. The weight
will continue to drop as long as your sticking to good eating and exercise.
Take care and continued success on losing weight,
Paul

Weight fluctuates and then stabilizes as it goes down to the next
level. The fluid balance in the body shifts. Do not allow it to get you
down. If you stick to your plan you will look back at the end of the
month and see progress.

Thanks, I needed to read that. My weight is up two pounds from the
lowest (and a pound from where I thought it was.) It's those damn
almonds. I have no time for meals so I grab a handful as I walk past.
And one handful is never enough.

Yeah, 12 pounds. Success sucks. If you love to hit yourself with a
hammer anyways. Quit hurting yourself already.
> I know I
> shouldn't weigh my self mid-week but this morning I did and my weight had

Your water retention swing is at least 5 pounds. So? Mine's 6 pounds
so I'm not amazed that yours is smaller.
> I am puzzled since
Your puzzled since you don't know that water retention swing happens all
the time and has happened your entire life. It's just that you rarely
stepped on the scale so you didn't see it happen. But it did happen.
This is why new folks are told to stay off the scale. Because they hurt
themselves doing that and it isn't as honest as using a hammer. If you
want to hurt yourself, use a hammer and you'll know that it's you that
is causing the pain. But ya know, better yet is to just plain stop
hurting yourself. Get off that scale!
While you're off that scale, go have a steak to celebrate those 12
pounds you lost. Be honest with yourself and not hurtfull. Face the
reality of 12 pounds of loss. Every new low is a loss. Water swing is
not a gain. Have plenty of veggies to get up to 25 grams for the
day, too.
