I am wondering if anyone can tell me their experience with these pills. I
have about a week supply, but I am afraid to take them because I have read
about the side effects of ephedra and I know that these products have been
banned recently. It's only about a 7 day supply though, should I take them?

I took Ephedra/Ephedrine with a Creatine/Protein supplement while I was
weight lifting. It worked out really well. Here in Canada, the stuff is
still available off the shelf, but the recommendation is 24 mg at a time,
max (thats 300 mg of ephedra standardized to 24 mg of ephedrine HCl, the
chemical verison). And it should be used with exercise only, to achieve
weight loss. But make sure you start working up slowly, because ephedrine
can raise your heart rate fast (not to dangerous levels, but it takes less
effort).
I'm 25/M, and I was doing the ephedrine combo about 4 years ago. Now I'm on
prescrption weight loss pills. I recommend them over epphie... they both
work, but at least prescriptions are monitored and controlled by doctors.
PS: I've since had ECKs/ECGs, ultrasound (cardioechogram) and a stress test
ECK/EKG(??) on my heart, and there has been no damage from anything
(including some rec. drug use).

Throw them out. Start an exercise program.

Hydroxycut no longer contains ephedra.
http://www.hydroxycut.com/
HYDROXYCUT is an ephedra-free dietary supplement that can support your
weight-loss goals when combined with diet and exercise.
(note that anything combined with diet and exercise, works because
diet and exercise work)
One person here is taking ephedrine and she also does a bunch of other
things like count calories, exercise etc. The combination seems to be
working for her, and the role of ephedrine is not obvious. If you are
looking for something that would let you abuse junk food, keep
overeating, and lose weight, you are out of luck, more or less.
There is a guy whose nick is DrumLib who is a big proponent of
ephedrine, he may be able to see this message and offer you his
opinion.
So, how about introducing yourself, what is your age, height, weight
etc etc.
Lots of people lose weight without supplements, and even keep it off,
it is all about being patient, resolute, hardworking, and sensible.

It is subtle. I took 12 mg of ephedrine this morning along with my
morning cup of coffee and 81 mg of aspirin. This was not a perfect
ratio of a stack, but here's what it did for me:
It gave me a little bit of an energy boost (mainly from the coffee) so
that I was energetic enough to get in a 20 minute high intensity workout
on my NordicTrack.
It gave me some appetite suppression so the fact that I worked from 10
am until 2 pm without a break for lunch didn't bother me. (I'm eating
lunch now and I'm not ravenous.)
It might provide some small speeding up of my metabolism, but it
wouldn't be enough to help if I weren't already eating catabolically and
exercising regularly.
It might provide some small help towards partitioning weight loss more
towards fat rather than muscle, which is important to me. In the scheme
of things the most important thing I'm doing for that is weight-lifting.
I had already figured out how to lose weight before I added ephedrine to
my regimen, and I mainly added it because I need a stimulant that also
happens to be an asthma med. I find the benefits outweigh the risks for me.

Or go to his excellent website discussing ephedra at

The newer Hydroxycut doesn't contain ephedrine, but older stuff out there
may still be in circulation. I read in a recent Men's Health magazine that
these drugs aren't really that affective unless you stay on a strict diet
and exercise, and if you do that anyway your likely to lose the weight
without even taking the drug. So I suggest staying away from them.
Good luck on your weight-loss goals,
Paul
