I just posted my introduction a few seconds ago but to recap, I'm Tara and
I'm new here!  I started Dr. Phil's UWLC yesterday.
My question has to do with his 14-day Rapid Start Plan.  I'm following it
almost exactly according to his Solution Food Guide pages and according to
www.fitday.com (thanks by the way to about 20 people for suggesting that
site in their posts!) I only consumed about 900 calories yesterday.  That
seems low to me.  I know it's supposed to be rapid start but that seems low.
I'm not going hungry by any means but previous weight loss plans I've tried
had me starting at about 1300.  I'm no petite flower so this is quite an
adjustment.  Anyone else do the 14-day thing?  Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance . . .

Tara, are you still breastfeeding?  That makes a difference here.

How's your water intake?

No, I am not breastfeeding.  And admittedly, my water intake is horrible.  I
know that I'm chronically dehydrated.  I absolutely hate water.  On the
other hand, I hate soda as well and don't consume that either.  I have been
drinking more water as of late but I'm truly never thirsty except during
meals.  I drink water and milk (skim) and that's it.  I did just buy some
green tea to try but haven't as of yet.

It is physically impossible for a human to actually dislike water.
It is possible to decide you think it, and to develop habits that
make it look like it.

So start drinking water.  Take your time about the process but allow
your body to inform you about the situation.  In a couple of weeks
you will discover your tastes have begun to change.  Allow it to
happen and you will slowly turn away from the notion that you dislike
water.

Water has the best possible sales pitch - Without it you die.

One way I manage to get all my water in is that I have a full glass when
I first get up.  I just gulp down a 10 ounce glass like it's medicine.
Then I try to have another full glass with breakfast while I take my
vitamins.  I had to train myself to do that.

Another trick is that I take a drink of water everytime I get up to pee.
 A bit self-reinforing.  :-)

Heh, one way I get my water is to drink from my bottle every time I see
Dally's posts - I'm not kidding.  I also do the drink water when hit the
head...even when I get up at night.

Early on I found it intimidating to drink water from two liter
bottles.  So to keep it from being intimidating, I used a small
glass and filled it a little at a time.  A small glass the size
you'd get orange juice at a restaurant.  I filled it every hour
from the big bottle but I kept the bottle out of sight.  It was
a trick I played on myself to keep the water flowing into me.
Whatever trick it takes for you, do it.  If it takes several
weeks of experimenting to find something that works, the future
will happen if you do that, and the future will happen anyways
if you don't.

I just pound down a ~24-oz glass of water every so often. I wonder if
this is overloading my plumbing, and if 8oz glasses would be absorbed
better.

Though I guess the bulk of the water goes out the same way in the
end...

I had this same problem - just couldn't face that gallon jug of drinking
water or the pitcher of filtered water.  I tried the Brita filter, and that
seemed to take some of the bitterness out of the tap water, but not all.

Solution:

I started drinking the Costco drinking water in the flats of 16.9 oz.
bottles. This water is markedly better tasting than anything else I've
tried, and the bottle size is very convenient. I just line up a half-dozen
bottles at the beginning of the day and assign myself to go through them.
Usually I just grab one and gulp it down at once, rather than working on a
bottle over time.

Also:  I don't refrigerate my water anymore. I find it easier on the system
to drink it at room temperature.

I am the same way.  Sometimes, even in the heat of summer, I will guzzle
down a litre at room temperature because it gets it down really quickly.
