Paul - 28 Apr 2004 04:32 GMT Well guys and gals,
It appears that it's coming down to the wire for the Dr. Phil thing to work out. I sent some more photos to one of the producers at Paramount Pictures, and she wrote back saying she really like them and said she would be in contact with me. I was told that if they pick me it would be around the 4th or 5th of May, which is next week. I really can't believe that they might pick me. You know I just saw the people they had on their Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge and I think I've lost more weight than all of them except for one guy, and I look a lot slimmer than he does, but he started at 360 whereas I started at 300. Anyway I'm real proud of my accomplishments, especially having a disability and pain that I live with daily.
If the Dr. asks me about support groups you can be assured I'll mention the ASD newsgroup. You guys have kept me motivated and I like watching you guys progress as well and support one another.
The new job seems to be working out great! I got a new car last weekend called the Honda Element in a sunset orange pearl color and I just love it. I talked them down to about 100-200 dollars above invoice and got more than I thought on my trade in. Life is good!
Well good night everyone- I have an early appointment at the gym in the morn,
Paul 300/187/175
Beverly - 28 Apr 2004 12:33 GMT I'm hoping you make it to the show - you certainly deserve it. You've been an inspiration to everyone in the group. It's been a pleasure to watch all the good changes that you've made in your life lately.

My mom has a new Element too... the green one. She loves it. It is a fun and functional car to drive.

I always seem to be drawn to cars that are just a little different. I think the PT Cruiser is great but much too small for me. I looked at Pontiac Aztecs when I was shopping around for a new car a couple of years ago. It just didn't have enough room for all the grandkids and bikes. I settled on a more conservative style - Chevy Venture van <g> Does that re-establish some credibility?

So, do tell... :-) <all said in well > meaning fun... but I still think its fugly> I'm afraid I'm with you, JayJay -- I've seen a few Elements on the road, and they're kinda ugly. Then again, I think PT Cruisers are ugly too, much to the frustration of DH.

Heck - my family sedan - maxima has more HP and a faster 0-60 time than the standard WRX. Or, do you have the sTi
:-) Tara N. - 28 Apr 2004 18:33 GMT I think the PT Cruiser looks like a hearse. LOL My neighbor lady has one and she's a bit scary herself so maybe that's the problem. LOL
Tara (who drives a 1993 piece of crap Geo Metro, but don't laugh. It only has 63,000 miles on it and gets 45 miles to the gallon -- my car is cheaper to drive during these high gas price days than yours!!! LOL)

Perple Gyrl - 29 Apr 2004 14:12 GMT Those are cute SUVS... I almost got one but decided on my wrx. It has 4 wheel drive to help me handle the 11.5 months of the year when there is no ice or snow!

I would love to have a smaller car but I'm often cramped for space with seating for 8 in the Venture. There are times I could use one of the 15 passenger buses<G>

There are > times I could use one of the 15 passenger buses<G> > > Beverly I don't carry passengers except my stinky dog on occasion so I don't even use my back seat (it's folded down). Warm weather time I carry golf clubs, yoga mat, extra shoes, softball mitt, a blanket, change of clothes, bike repair stuff and tools in the back plus the bike rack on the trailer hitch. In winter time the golf clubs & mitt go in and I have an extra parka and gloves, and volleyball skids in addition to the other stuff.
Jenn using DH's truck to transport stinky dog as long as possible

I have a large family - 4 kids and 8 grandchildren.
I never take the bike rack off the hitch - you just never know when it might be warm enough during the winter for a short ride. The only thing kept in the van is some bike equipment, folding chairs for outdoor events, blankets and Mickey Mouse. Mickey has been moved to the van and occupies the built-in child seat unless the 2 yo granddaughter is with me. Mickey is much safer in the van as my cat likes to chew on his nose.

My hitch is used in the winter to tow the trailer w/ the snowmobile, or to pull cars out of the ditches (except for my own :P)
