Well, I'm in a bit of a bind. I have a farewell lunch to go to today
and I am stumped as to what I can/should get. We are going to a
chinese restaurant and I have 400 calories available to me for lunch.
I am thinking a cup of soup of some sort, but can someone please throw
out some suggestions that I can plug into fitday before I go to make
sure I stay on track regarding servings/cals etc? Unfortunately it's a
small buffet style lunch and I have no idea what will be available, so
I don't know where to begin with fitday. All ideas welcomed and
appreciated!

Thanks!

My local Chinese buffet usually offers some steamed crab legs and baked
fish.  Otherwise maybe find a dish with lots of veggies and avoid the fatty
meat?  My buffet usually has a salad bar as well.  Wishing you luck!!!

Thanks for the tips -- it has been a really long time since I have
gone to a buffet of any kind, and I used to treat them as "I have to
get my money's worth" situations. This time I just don't care, which
is a HUGE shift for me mentally! I really am finding myself fully
enrolled in anew lifestyle, rather than a diet, yet the fear of the
unknown is strong....

I had no idea -- baked fish and salad? I can only hope! I did find out
that 1 cup of eggdrop soup isn't terrible either, and after 70-80
degree weather, winter is back in the rockies. A hot cup of soup
sounds mighty good today! :-)

Thanks, Tara, I know you and I are in similar situations with weight
goals and being relatively new to this! Now I am getting ready for
houseguests for the next month and those folks eat 24/7, should be
more and more interesting. I am so thrilled to have found ASD! You all
keep me so strong!

Let us know how it goes and enjoy your lunch!!!  Sorry to hear that winter
is back . . .

P.S.  We do have similar goals, don't we!  Let's make a point to check in
with each other on a weekly basis, ok?  I could use a good kick in the butt
once in a while. LOL

Will do, we're leaving in about 1/2 hour or so!

Yay! A diet buddy! Don't we all need someone to be accountable to
sometimes?!?!?! We can go off NG for that -- email me flkleinberg at
yahoo.com. I'm so psyched! :-)

Well, I'm back. GAWD the amount of crap on the buffet was amazing. No
salad and really only a few things I felt good about eating! I had 1
cup of egg drop soup and 1 cup of steamed vegetables that included
broccoli and carrots and mushrooms. I also had 1/4 cup of green beans
and red peppers and 1/2 cup of chicken moo goo gai pan.

The crap was tempting, but it wasn't too difficult to overlook it. It
just didn't call to me the way it once would have! YAY!

Way to go Ally!!!  I'm so proud of you.  Eggrolls would have been tempting
to me.  It sounds like you did fantastic.  I've got a dilemma my self.
We're eating out tonight but I got to pick where I chose Olive Garden
(despite their crappy food) because I can have a cup of minestrone soup and
some salad and still be under for my calories for today.

I added you to my e-mail.  I'll write you in a little bit.
