Hello everyone, my name is Franchesca and I have been overweight for most of
my life.  I have just started Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Solution book, and
things are already starting to change.  I weighed in this morning at 274lbs.
I am 5'4".  My highest weight was in October when I weighed 315.  I have
decided to start working out at least 3 days a week, along with walking 1-2
miles at least 3 days a week.  I am so excited about changing my life.  I'm
not even going to ask you to wish me luck...because I know that I can and
will do this.  My goal weight is 150lbs.

Thanks
Franchesca

Franchesca:

I hope that you stick around for a while.  I know the feeling about being
excited about changing one's life.

You have already lost an enormous amount of weight.  I hope that as you
progress you consider adding more exercise to your plan.  One thing is for
sure - when you exercise you are not eating!  An extra walk or a game of
tennis in the evenings often occupies you when you would otherwise be
eating.

I have not read Dr. Phil's book.  I have read many others, though.
Regardless of what I agree with or disagree with about any particular plan,
I do find that reading health and nutrition material motivates me.  There is
ample information on the web.

Many ASD folks use www.fitday.com to log calories, etc.  It is truly useful
in getting a grip on where you are in the journey.

Good Luck.  You can do well.  There are so many on ASD who have done well
that it is easy to think that you will do well, too, if you come up with a
plan that you can stick to.

Congratulations on trying to lose weight, it can literally help save
your life. At your weight, it would be proper to test for diabetes and
also ask an endocrinologist for some opinions on your diet. It is
likely going to be very difficult to lose weight, not that you have a
rational alternative. Just be prepared that the weight may not fall
off instantly and that you will have to deal with distractions etc.

How long have you been fat? What is your diet like? How do you exercise?
