Well, I have stuck to eating between 1300-1500 cals per day, even with
voraciously hungry houseguests staying at my place for the rest of the
month. What I find frustrating is that my weight loss appears to have
stalled. :-( I have not lost a pound in almost 2 weeks now. I am
hoping it is because it's "that time of the month" and I do appear to
be retaining water, as my rings feel a bit tight. I am drinking at
least 5-6 .5 liter water bottles per day along with unsweetened herb
tea, etc.
I am quite sure this is temporary, and I will not revert to the old
ways of eating because I feel great, but I needed to share my feelings
with people who would understand!

Awwww. Ally, I'm sorry that you're frustrated about your stalled weight
loss right now. Is there any way you can find a little extra time in your
day for some extra activities? Maybe adding a few more minutes of a workout
will bump you off the plateau. Otherwise, bump off the guests! LOL (Just
kidding, of course.)
I think you're doing great considering that you have guests staying with
you. Hang in there!!!

If people got to define the word stall for themselves, everyone
who didn't see a new low this morning would be stalled. On
Atkins a stall has an official definition and it's a good a one
as ever: 4+ weeks without a new low, without a lost inch, without
a cheat. In other words you aren't stalled.
Of course all newbies want the time scale for loss to be week to
week. It isn't. Of course all oldies wish the time scale for
loss to be week to week. It isn't. Doesn't matter that everyone
uniformly hates the fact, the time scale for loss is really
month to month.

Yet another reason you slam-dunk don't qualify as stalled and
why the time scale for loss can't possibly be week to week.
Remember - Water is not fat. It's hard to believe when you are
staring at the scale, but water really seriously isn't fat.

No matter that I was so stern in correcting you, I too and in the
universal list of people who wish the time scale for loss is shorter
than it actually is.

Stick with it Ally. If your rings are tight I think you can safely say
you're retaining water. Years ago when I dealt with it I would gain around
5lbs and lose it shortly afterward. I don't miss those days one bit<g>

Take a day and have a refeed. It works.

Hang in there, Ally! I've had many periods when I've not lost weight
for a few weeks. But I've lost 110 lbs. in 22 months. Just keep
eating right and the weight loss will come.

Ally:
I get frustrated too but I have to remind myself that I am not smart enough
to defy the basic laws of physics. If you burn more calories than you
consume, you will lose weight.
Because you most likely retaining fluid, hopefully, you will have an
exaggerated weight loss in a couple of weeks. That happens to me often when
hormones or excess salt cause fluid retention. I will go for a few weeks
without losing or even putting on weight. Then, I lose several pounds in a
couple of days.
Meanwhile, exercise does help tremendously with fluid retention. And, it
gets you out of the house of eaters and by yourself for a while. Think
about a walk or something.

wait until a couple of weeks after your period.
if you are still not losing, eat less and exercise more.

Hang in there! The weight will start to come off again. If you feel
great, then you're doing something right (and just think about how you'd
be doing if you WEREN'T being so good--so something will come of it
soon!).
-Alison, frustrated too (after a weeklong cruise and a 7 pound gain
despite careful calorie counting and a 6 mile run every single day)
